(Minghui.org) It has recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that Mr. Cheng Weixing died in custody, months after he was arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. He was 54.

Mr. Cheng, a retired mine worker in Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province, was arrested at around 10 p.m. on May 12, 2020, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.

Officers of Wenquan Police Station came to his home in three cars on the next morning and confiscated his Falun Gong books.

Mr. Cheng later died while being held in the Huludao City Detention Center. Due to tight information control, the details of his death remain unclear. Some sources said he died in January 2021, while others said he died in May 2021.

Among the 42 Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted to death in 2021, 13 of them died while in custody, including one Inner Mongolia man who died the day after his court hearing and a Shandong resident who died the day after his arrest.
