(Minghui.org) After Ms. Mao Jiaping, a Falun Gong practitioner in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on June 2 for refusing to renounce her faith, her daughter, Ms. Fu Weitong, who lives in Japan, has been trying to rescue her by holding events in front of the Chinese Embassy. But now Ms. Fu’s father has been threatened by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials with job termination should he fail to stop his daughter from speaking out.
Ms. Fu first raised awareness of the human rights violation in front of the Chinese Embassy on June 12. She went there again and gave a speech in both Chinese and Japanese. Escorted by several police officers, she also crossed the street and placed an open letter in the embassy’s mailbox. Some passersby gave her thumb ups to support her courage.

After the event was over, Ms. Fu received a phone call from her father in China. He asked her to stop her activities and take down related reports, as the authorities in China threatened to have him fired from his job.
Ms. Mao lives in Dalian City, where officials have been carrying out the CCP’s “zero-out” campaign aimed at forcing every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s blacklist to renounce their faith. They subjected local practitioners to harassment, arrest, confiscation of personal property, and detention. Between June 1 and 3 this year, at least 29 Falun Gong practitioners in Dalian were arrested, including Ms. Mao.
It remains unknown which agencies the officials who threatened Ms. Mao’s husband belonged to.
Below, we publish Ms. Fu’s open letter to the embassy in Japan.

Letter from Ms. Fu Calling for Her Mother’s Release
My name is Fu Weitong and I came to Japan from Dalian City, Liaoning Province a few years ago to attend school. I landed a job in Tokyo after graduation and now live here.
Recently I read from Minghui.org that my mother, Ms. Mao Jiaping, was arrested on June 2, 2021. My family members and relatives in China also confirmed the arrest. They said the police arrested her when she was at home alone.
My relatives heard this is part of the preparation to celebrate the CCP’s 100th anniversary and my mother was detained at the Dalian Police Department.
Over 10 days have passed, and my family, including my father, has not received any notice on my mother’s status. We heard that my mother would be sentenced to prison right after the July 1 celebration by the CCP. We are all worried.
Falun Gong is a meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has drawn about 100 million practitioners in over 100 countries. In China, however, the CCP has been suppressing it since July 1999.
My mother began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. At that time she was 31 and suffered from various illnesses, especially severe anemia and low platelet level. As a result, once she was bleeding, it was hard to stop it. Her face and even her hands looked pale all year long.
To make things worse, my mother was also diagnosed with gastric cancer. She had the worst type, and her doctors said patients who had the same illness had all died. But she is now healthy and looks much younger. All these were because of her practice of Falun Gong.
Surgery was the only option, but the chance of success was low. Even if she had the surgery, she was told she would not live long.
Still my mother decided to receive the surgery. At that time, she had heard about Falun Gong. As a lay Buddhist, however, she still considered herself a Buddhist instead of a Falun Gong practitioner.
With the confirmation of gastric cancer, my mother learned nothing could save her except Falun Gong. Before and after the surgery, she kept reading Falun Gong books and listening to recorded lectures. It was Falun Gong that gave her hope.
My mother did survive the surgery, but she lost all her hair. Plus, the chemotherapy was extremely painful, making her unwilling to continue. Since medical science could hardly save her, she was determined to practice Falun Gong.
Shortly after the surgery, she had a fever. Her father forced her to have a checkup in the hospital. Doctors said it was a good sign since her white blood cells were fighting the cancer cells. My mother returned home happily. She has never take any medicine since then. She has recovered from not only gastric cancer but also other illnesses.
What my mother experienced is only a glimpse of the benefits Falun Gong has brought to its practitioners. However, the CCP decided to suppress Falun Gong and arrested dozens of practitioners in Tianjin on April 23, 1999. My mother and other practitioners thus went to Beijing on April 25, 1999, for a peaceful appeal requesting the release of these practitioners. Because of this, however, she was taken away by police, who forced her to sign a statement promising she would not appeal again–although appealing to the government was a basic right guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution. Police also ransacked our place and took away Falun Gong books and other materials.
Former CCP leader Jiang Zemin started a nationwide persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, subjecting numerous practitioners to arrests, detention, imprisonment, torture, discrimination and harassment. To further aggravate the persecution, a staged self-immolation incident took place on January 23, 2001, to defame Falun Gong. The CCP has also harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. Dalian City has played a critical role in both forced organ harvesting and plastination of bodies for body exhibitions.
There is a Chinese saying that “Good is rewarded while evil is punished.” We all want our family, our parents, and our children to be safe and healthy. By harming innocent practitioners and turning people against the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, however, the CCP leads people toward an uncertain future.
China has a history of kindness and harmony. It is the CCP that instilled class struggle, hatred, brutality, and lies in people’s minds. After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2004, over 370 million Chinese have recognized the vicious nature of the CCP and agreed to quit the CCP and its junior organizations, namely the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers.
After the Chinese Supreme Court announced in 2015 that it would docket all cases and accept all litigations, more than 200,000 practitioners in China have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin to the Supreme Court and Supreme Procuratorate. My mother also joined others in the wave of lawsuits against Jiang.
The lies and disinformation by the CCP continued when the coronavirus broke out in late 2019. So far, over 179 million people have been infected around the world with a death toll of over 3.8 million. It is time to reflect on the harm brought by the CCP in China and around the world.
Despite the harsh persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have been holding firm to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, striving to be good citizens, and really being responsible to Chinese citizens.
We believe this will bring hope for the future of China. For officials like you, you know how corrupt the CCP has become. Look around in this world and in history: wherever the CCP goes, it brings suppression, brutality, and lies. Only by rejecting the CCP will we have a future.
I sincerely hope you will take a step back and really think for the future of yourselves and your families instead of blindly sinking with the CCP. Throughout numerous political campaigns, almost everyone who followed the Party’s orders to persecute others have become scapegoats. By following your conscience and treating innocent people such as Falun Gong practitioners well, you–together with your family–will be blessed with health and safety.
