(Minghui.org) A woman in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province was recently sentenced to two years for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Lin Liqing was arrested on June 14, 2020 while reading Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Lin Wanzhen’s home. Ms. Lin Wanzhen's two other practitioner-guests, Ms. Wu Rongduan and a female practitioner whose name is unknown, were also arrested.
Another 14 practitioners were also arrested on the same day, mostly while reading Falun Gong teachings together. It’s reported that the Jieyang City 610 Office, an extra-legal agency created specifically to persecute Falun Gong, monitored the practitioners’ daily activities for some time, before executing the arrests on the same day.
While Ms. Lin Wanzhen, Ms. Wu, and the practitioner whose name is unknown were released on the next day, Ms. Lin Liqing was kept in custody at Jieyang City Detention Center. Ms. Lin Wanzhen was so terrified by the arrest that her health quickly deteriorated and she passed away a month later.
It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that Ms. Lin Liqing has been sentenced to two years. Further details about her case are unknown at the time of writing.
