(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old woman in Fushun City, Liaoning Province is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Yu Guilan credits Falun Gong for curing her neurosis, heart disease, rheumatism and arthritis that tormented her for twenty years. She went out on April 2, 2020, to talk to people about Falun Gong and its health benefits, only to be reported to the police and then arrested while waiting for the bus.

The police forcibly collected Ms. Yu’s fingerprints. They ransacked her home in the afternoon and confiscated her over 40 Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and some Falun Gong keepsakes.

The police took Ms. Yu back to the local police station after the raid and released her at around 10 p.m. They asked her to return to the police station on the next day, but she didn’t comply.

On September 20, 2020, Ms. Yu was arrested when the police noticed her distributing Falun Gong information by monitoring her. They searched her home again and took away some Falun Gong posters. The police submitted her case to the Wanghua District Procuratorate after releasing her.

The police went to Ms. Yu’s home on January 28, 2021, and brought her to the Wanghua District Court. She was handed the indictment and placed under house arrest. The judge didn’t specify when she would be scheduled to appear in court.
