(Minghui.org) A Dumeng County, Heilongjiang Province resident was arrested two years after she started living away from home to avoid the persecution of her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. He Lixia was sentenced to four years in August 2021 and has been admitted to the Harbin Women’s Prison at the time of writing.

Since the persecution started in July 1999, Ms. He has served three labor camp terms and almost died from torture. Due to pressure from society, her husband divorced her and her daughter grew up without her mother’s care.

A local practitioner, Ms. Li Mingxiu, sent her daughter to Ms. He’s home for a sleep-over on November 8, 2018. When she went over to Ms. He’s home to drop off her daughter’s school uniform the next morning, both she and Ms. He were arrested and taken to Daqing No. 2 Detention Center. The two women’s homes were also ransacked.

Ms. Li’s case was submitted to the Procuratorate, while Ms. He was released on bail on the fifteenth day after she was tortured to the verge of death.

The police found Ms. He a few days after her release and indicated that they were still pursuing a prison sentence against her. To avoid the persecution, Ms. He was forced to live away from home.

Ms. Li appeared in court on June 10, 2019 and was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan on July 2.

Ms. He was arrested again on November 25, 2020, only one month after she returned home. She was first held at the Dumeng County Detention Center and then transferred to the Daqing Detention Center.

When her sister tried to visit her on December 5, the guards rejected her request. She later learned that Ms. He was on a hunger strike to protest the persecution when she came.

The police submitted Ms. He’s case to the Ranghulu District Procuratorate. She was sentenced to four years in August and taken to the Harbin Women’s Prison.
