(Minghui.org) The Jerusalem Post reported on December 13, 2020, that 921 current and former lawmakers across 35 countries signed a joint statement on December 10, International Human Rights Day, condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong.

The Jerusalem Post report, titled “Over 900 lawmakers protest Chinese persecution of Falun Gong,” said that this is “the first time a such wide array of world leaders are united in calling for the end of the religious persecution of Falun Gong.”

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Since its introduction to the public in 1992, countless people were drawn to its profound principles and health benefits. Fearing its ever-growing popularity, the communist China launched a nationwide campaign against the practice 21 years ago.

According to the joint statement, “Since July 1999, millions of Falun Gong practitioners in China have been arbitrarily arrested and jailed without due process and many have been tortured and even killed.”

Bob Menendez, a Jewish senator of New Jersey, also signed the statement. Other Israeli politicians who have signed the statement include former MP and Vice Chairman of Parliament Moshe Feiglin, former MP Yehuda Glick, and others.

Ann-Sofie Alm, a Swedish Member of Parliament, was quoted by the Jerusalem Post as saying that the persecution of Falun Gong in China is “among the worst crime[s] against human rights the world has ever seen. It has been described as a genocide by some international observers and judicial authorities.”

Levi Browde, Executive Director of the Falun Dafa Information Center, told the Jerusalem Post that “Together they [the signatories] send a clear message of solidarity to those suffering in China and an unmistakable rejection of the Chinese regime’s campaign to wipe out a peaceful faith practiced by tens of millions in China, and around the world.”
