(Minghui.org) The authorities in Jilin Province have been hosting brainwashing classes targeting Falun Gong practitioners in recent months and attempted to force them to renounce their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The brainwashing classes in Jilin Province are organized by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked with overseeing the persecution, as well as the 610 Office, an extralegal agency created specifically to persecute Falun Gong. Most of the practitioners who were sent to the brainwashing classes have been convicted and given probation for their faith.
In Jilin City alone, the local 610 Office has held three brainwashing classes at the Jinqiao Hotel. More than 80 practitioners have been taken here and persecuted.
The three brainwashing classes in Jilin City had two major lecturers, both of whom were former Falun Gong practitioners who had given up their belief under pressure and submitted to the communist regime to assist them in the persecution.
One of the lecturers was Ma Chunlin, a peasant in his 70s from Erdaoxiang. The other lecturer was Li Heju, a technical teacher in his 60s from Shulan City. Both of them began their lecture tours in the prisons, detention centers, labor camps, and brainwashing centers in 2002. In their lectures, they slandered and vilified Falun Gong and its founder, in an attempt to confuse the practitioners and misguide them into giving up their faith.
Agents from the 610 Office tracked each practitioner’s attitude towards Falun Gong throughout the brainwashing classes. They often ordered the practitioners to write “thought reports” and asked them, “Are you practicing anymore?” If the practitioners didn’t cooperate, the agents threatened to send them to prison.
One staff member in the brainwashing class in Jinqiao Hotel was Liang Guozhong. He is from the nearby Huadian City.
Bai Yan, the head of Chuanying District 610 Office in Jilin City, has also been actively participating in the persecution for many years.
