(Minghui.org) I am employed by a reputable state-owned enterprise. According to the company report, the average monthly salary is approximately 7,000 yuan per employee. In reality, most who earn that amount are in middle and top-level management. A regular employee earns 2,000 to 3,000 yuan per month.

My monthly salary is slightly more than 2,000 yuan. One of our benefits is a medical expense allowance. When I first began my job, each person received 350-550 yuan as an annual allowance for medical expenses. I reported the expenses like everyone else did, without thinking about it.

As my understanding of Falun Dafa’s principles improved, I asked myself if I was doing the right thing. I was healthy and didn’t spend a cent on medical treatment, and yet I submitted expense reports with a list of medications.

Dafa teaches practitioners to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Was I being Truthful? I decided I would stop claiming the medical benefit that I was not using.

Employees began to file claims multiple times every year beginning in 2013 and were therefore able to receive an additional 3,000-5,000 yuan per person. The company said that, since they were not giving out a year-end bonus, the allowance was considered a form of bonus.

Although the amount was much larger than before, I still felt it would be wrong for me to file a claim.

A coworker was puzzled by my behavior and said, “This is our benefit. Don’t you understand? This is considered our year-end bonus.” I sent a message and explained to her and another coworker, “I’m healthy because I practice Falun Dafa, and I haven’t had any medical expenses. I would be going against Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance if I filed a claim.” She had nothing more to say.

The claim procedure changed again in 2018. The company stated the total claim would be converted into a bonus, an additional 7,000 to 8,000 yuan per person. This meant my coworkers were collecting 7,000 to 8,000 yuan more than I was in total annual compensation.

This was an attractive figure for someone who was only making a bit over 2,000 yuan, but as a practitioner, I did not think it was right to take the money. I had transferred to a new department and my new coworkers found out I was not submitting a medical expense report.

Some of them understood that it was because of my spiritual belief. Others said, “You can give the money to your parents or use it to make Falun Dafa materials.” I understood their good intentions and smiled.

My department notified and reminded me to submit a claim two days before I wrote this article. I had already made the choice not to submit a claim and was pleased with my decision.

My mother was in poor health before she learned the practice. But after becoming a practitioner 20 years ago, she regained her health and has not had any medical problems. Having used a minimum of 1,000 yuan per year, she has saved at least 20,000 yuan.

Since there is no cure for the Wuhan virus, one has to depend on one’s own immune system. My brother, who’s not a practitioner commented, “How have you and Mother remained healthy for such a long time?”

I would have claimed the expense if I were not a practitioner. Society’s moral values have declined, and no one seems to care if they are dishonest.

I could have used that money to do a lot of things, but Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa) wants us to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, be a good person, and reach the standard of a practitioner. I have chosen to follow the teachings of Falun Dafa.

I feel blessed and honored to be a Falun Dafa practitioner, as I strive to elevate my character and moral values. I express my deepest gratitude to Master!
