Seven Months After Her Prison Release, Guangdong Woman Still Held in Brainwashing Center

September 10, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) It has been been seven months since Ms. Xie Yu was taken to Guangzhou City Brainwashing Center right after she finished serving two years for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Xie’s family received a call from her on August 21, 2019. She said that she might be released from the brainwashing center after October 1. She also asked her parents to have patience and not to file more complaints against authorities or seek justice for her.

Her family suspected that she was pressured by authorities to say those words. They are even more worried about her now.

Ms. Xie, 33, was arrested on January 26, 2017 after being monitored by the police for months for distributing Falun Gong informational materials.

She first appeared in the Haizhu District Court on September 19, 2017 and again on January 24, 2018. The judge sentenced her to two years in prison on August 10, 2018. She was ordered to serve time at the Haizhu District Detention Center.

When her parents went to the detention center on January 25, 2019 to take her home at the end of her term, they were devastated to learn that she had already been sent to the brainwashing center.
