(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Fang, a resident of Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, has been forced to wear shackles all day long since June 29, 2019, even when she sleeps, as the guards at Anda Detention Center are punishing her for doing Falun Gong exercises.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang, a well respected elementary school teacher, was arrested on October 3, 2018, together with four other Falun Gong practitioners for distributing Falun Gong informational materials.
Two more practitioners were also arrested one week later for seeking their release.
The seven practitioners include Ms. Wang, Ms. Gao Jinshu, Mr. Yang Chuanhou, Ms. Song Hongwei, Ms. Wang Fuhua, Ms. Bai Xia and Ms. Zhao Tingting, first appeared in Anda City Court on April 16 and then on May 14, 2019.
Ms. Gao, who had high blood pressure and other medical conditions, became incoherent and started vomiting midway through the first hearing. She was wheeled into the courtroom for the second hearing.
The judge announced the verdict against the seven practitioners on May 24, 2019.
Ms. Wang Fang, Ms. Wang Fuhua, Mr. Yang, Ms. Bai and Ms. Zhao were each sentenced to 2 years in prison. Ms. Song and Ms. Gao received 1.5 and 1 year in prison, respectively. Each was also fined 5,000 yuan.
