(Minghui.org) The family of Xu Baiguang, an 11-year-old boy, was torn apart because his mother was sentenced to five years in prison for her belief in Falun Gong and his father passed away from diabetes, which quickly worsened after his wife's imprisonment.
Mother Sentenced for Her Faith
Xu Baiguang's mother, Ms. Ding Liurong, was arrested on December 24, 2014, just for telling people about Falun Gong. Xu was seven years old at the time. They were both locked in a cage in the local police station.
Baiguang was taken home later by his father, but he hasn't seen his mother since then. Ms. Ding is being held in Nantong Prison.
Father Passes Away
After his mother was arrested, his father went to the local detention center to see her and found a lawyer to represent her. With all of this, and having to look after Baiguang, his diabetes worsened. He was taken to the hospital and died in June 2016.
After his father passed away, local Falun Gong practitioners raised money to give to his relatives to help bring him up. His aunt eventually took him to her hometown to look after him. The young boy studies very hard and was in the top three in his class.
Ms. Ding is due to be released in December 2019, and her son is looking forward to seeing her soon.
