(Minghui.org) I am 53 years old and began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996.In January 2018, I experienced an illness tribulation that became a life-and-death struggle against the evil interference. During this time, I steadfastly believed in Master Li and Dafa, and eventually overcame the evil’s persecution. I want to share my experiences during this tribulation.
The Appearance of Illness Symptoms
One evening, after sending righteous thoughts at 6:00 p.m. and having dinner, I started to feel nauseous. I still had some time before leaving for group Fa study, so I decided to lie down for a while. But when it was time to leave, I was vomiting, weak and feverish. I did not have enough righteous thoughts at the time, so I decided to skip Fa study that evening.
The next day, I was no longer vomiting but I still felt weak and feverish. I was coughing up lots of phlegm, and while turning in bed my chest felt like it had been ripped apart. I could only walk slowly, and I had no energy to do the exercises.By the third day, I thought to myself, “I cannot neglect studying the Fa or doing the exercises.” So I began doing one exercise after another, and taking breaks in between. But my condition did not improve, and I could not even muster the energy to eat. I became so weak and breathless that I could no longer climb stairs or carry my grandson.
Subsequently, I began coughing up blood. An impure thought surfaced in my mind: “Your lungs are failing.” I told this thought, “I have no heart or lungs because my body is made of high energy matter.” Next, the evil created symptoms of cancer in my right breast, and said to me, “You have breast cancer.” I replied, “Stop creating these illusions. I don’t have any illness in my body.”
Master Li has said,
“We do not practice qi here. You do not need to practice such low-level things, and we will push you beyond it, making your body reach a state free of any illness.” (Zhuan Falun)
The Evil Interference Persists
But the evil persisted: “You should go to the hospital!” I said to the evil, “My Master has said, “And how could ordinary people heal a divine being's sickness?” (Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles, 2006)
While reciting the Fa, I sent righteous thoughts to clear the breast cancer symptoms created by the evil. The cancer symptoms eventually vanished, but my other symptoms got worse and I vomited blood for the next two days.
During this time, the evil’s interference got worse. The evil said to me, “You should just give up this filthy human skin.”I replied, “While this human skin doesn’t look like much, it’s very precious to me. I still need it to practice the exercises, transform high energy matter, consummate and return home with Master Li!” The evil then said, “Your fellow Falun Dafa practitioner, who died of illness karma, is already gone. You should go too.” I replied, “That’s his path. As for me, I must follow Master Li to the very end.”
Just then, I remembered Master Li had said,
“...during the Fa-rectification period, disciples must not depart until the Fa-rectification is over”(“Fa-Rectification Period Dafa Disciples” from Essentials for Further Advancement II).
“What's important for cultivators is righteous thoughts. When you have strong righteous thoughts, you are able to withstand anything and do anything. That's because you are a cultivator: someone who is on a divine path and who is not controlled by the factors of ordinary people or low-level principles. ” (Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles)
After reciting these lines, I said to the evil, “You heard what Master Li said. I am not controlled by the factors of ordinary people or low-level principles. So I am not concerned by birth, old age, illness and death.”
A little later, the evil returned and said, “Your primordial qi is injured.” I recalled that Master had said, “...primordial qi can only be removed by someone with high-level abilities” (Zhuan Falun).
So I told the evil, “No one can touch me. I have Master and I have the Fa, even the universe was created by my Master.” I then recited a line from ‘Lunyu’: “Dafa is the wisdom of the Creator. It is the bedrock of creation, what the heavens, earth, and universe are built upon.” (“Lunyu” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
After that, I sent a righteous thought: completely eliminate all these bad thoughts!
Strengthening Righteous Thoughts
When I first began experiencing the illness tribulation, I did not truly spend time sending righteous thoughts to correct my current state, nor seriously study the Fa. I was only going through the motions and not doing them sincerely. After some time, I realized that I had been nurturing the evil, and I could not accept its continuous persecution. As I was staying with my son at the time, I decided to move back to my own home.
The next day, I sat down and sent righteous thoughts seriously, but I could not calm my mind. I then thought of Master Li’s words: “the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts” (“Drive Out Interference” from Essentials for Further Advancement II).
So I studied the Fa for half an hour and sent righteous thoughts for half an hour. I alternated between the two for the whole morning. While sending righteous thoughts, I asked Master Li to strengthen my righteous thoughts: “I am a disciple of Master Li, and I am cultivating the law of the universe, which rectifies all impure things. I can correct my ordinary person’s attachments and faults through the cultivation of Dafa. I will not allow the old forces to interfere or persecute me - only Master can determine my fate! “
In the afternoon, I stopped for a rest. The evil came back to interfere: “You cannot maintain your xinxing level, you should quit cultivating.” I then recited the Fa, “...because it is human beings cultivating, not gods. So since it is human beings cultivating, human thinking will show itself during cultivation” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference VII), and “The entire cultivation process for a cultivator is one of constantly giving up human attachments.” (Zhuan Falun).
I said to the evil, “I will cultivate under Master Li till the end. Whether I make it or not is up to Master Li and not up to you!” I continued studying the Fa and sending righteous thoughts with my husband. I finally stopped at 5:00 p.m. Just then, a thought materialized in my mind: “You will be well tomorrow.” I replied in my thoughts, “If this is Master Li, then thank you, Master. If it is the evil, then you can stop playing your games. The only thing waiting for you is to be eliminated.”
The next day, I did stop vomiting blood. However, I still felt weak and could only walk slowly. I said to myself, “My body is made of high-energy matter, so why am I still in this state? Isn’t that the opposite of Master’s teachings?” I recalled what Master Li had said,
“...you will feel that your body is light, as though treading on air. In the past, you would be tired if you walked a few steps, but now it is very easy no matter how far you walk. You feel as if being pushed while riding a bike, and you are not tired when going upstairs - no matter how many floors there are. It is guaranteed to be this way.” (Zhuan Falun)
So I sent a righteous thought to immediately eliminate this abnormal state, and I found that my body was once again full of energy and I was able to walk quickly.
After recovering, I began going out without my husband’s help or accompaniment. Refusing to give up, the evil said to me, “Ha! You’re going out alone. You’re dead meat!”They wanted to take advantage of me. I said to them, “You’re the one who’s dead meat! I am protected by Master Li, no one can touch me!”
I recited Master Li’s teaching, “I am rooted in the universe. If anyone could harm you, he or she would be able to harm me. Put simply, that person would be able to harm this universe.” (Zhuan Falun) When the evil saw that they could not touch me, they gave up and stopped interfering.
Looking Within After Overcoming Tribulation
This tribulation lasted almost half a month, and during this time I did not look within properly. During the tribulation, I did not worry about whether I could overcome it or not. I also refused to let the old forces gain a foothold in persecuting me, and had faith in the boundless power of Master Li and Dafa. After overcoming the tribulation, I began looking within. Because I had been so busy looking after my elders, I had not studied the Fa seriously for the past few months, and had not kept up with my righteous thoughts. Moreover, I had practically stopped clarifying the truth. At times, I was not concentrating when studying the Fa, or maintaining my xinxing while sending righteous thoughts. In short, this tribulation came about because I had not been diligent.
Master Li has told us,
“When your righteous thoughts arise, nothing can block your path. It is thus primarily students who haven’t been very diligent, who don’t study the Fa frequently, or whose minds are elsewhere while studying Fa who have been interfered with the most and persecuted the worst. That’s always the case. The Dafa disciples who have cultivated well, however, truly cannot be interfered with—not even in the least. Moreover, their righteous thoughts are strong, and they are helping others at the same time. They are truly helping Master rectify the Fa.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the 2010 New York Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference XI)
This time, I was able to overcome the illness tribulation and the evil’s interference, and it was completely through Master Li’s merciful protection and support, as well as the boundless power of Dafa. I truly felt the greatness of the Fa and Master! Having faith in Master and Dafa is the only way to truly overcome illness tribulation.
