(Minghui.org) A woman in Xuchang City was arrested again barely ten months after she finished serving four years in prison. The local court tried her behind closed doors and sentenced her to prison again.
Ms. Qu Chunrong was targeted because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. She was first given two years of forced labor in 2000, and then four years in prison in November 2013.
Ms. Qu’s ordeal didn’t stop when she was released from prison in February 2016. She was seized again on December 9, 2016 when she went to request the release of another local Falun Gong practitioner.
Judge Li held a secret hearing. When Ms. Qu’s family found out about the trial, they questioned why Li had failed to inform them as required by law. Li replied, “Because you guys didn’t hire a lawyer or leave me your phone numbers.”
Ms. Qu is appealing her case while detained at Xuchang Detention Center.
