(Minghui.org) Ms. He Shufang from Daqing City was arrested on July 3, 2016, after being reported to police for handing out informational materials about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

The police took her back to her home to ransack it about six hours later. They told her husband that she would be taken to the Daqing Detention Center afterward.

Ms. He’s husband grabbed her and wouldn’t let go. After about a 20 minute standoff, the arresting officers called in more than 30 agents to join them. Two officers pried open her husband’s hands and snatched her away.

The police have forwarded Ms. He’s case to the local Procuratorate, and she is facing an indictment for her faith.

The 52-year-old woman’s arrest dealt a heavy blow to her diabetic husband and bedridden mother-in-law, who both relied on her to take care of them.

The elderly mother and her son couldn’t understand why Ms. He, a loving daughter-in-law and wife, must pay such a dear price for exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief. They long for her quick release.

Falun Gong Pulls Her Through

Ms. He lost her daughter ten years ago. At about the same time, her husband contracted diabetes. His feet festered as a result and he walked with a limp. As if that was not enough, the company he worked for also went bankrupt, leaving him jobless.

Had it not been for her faith, Ms. He would have collapsed in the face of such adversities. She credited Falun Gong for giving her the strength to pull herself together. She worked odd jobs to support her family and took good care of her husband.

Ms. He also became the caretaker for her mother-in-law three years ago. The elderly woman, nearly 80, was incontinent and bedridden. Yet Ms. He never complained, as she had become used to considering others first, as taught by Falun Gong.

Having had firsthand experience with Falun Gong’s positive impact on her life, Ms. He never shied away from telling people that the persecution was wrong. Such a simple act, however, landed her in police custody, leaving her husband and mother-in-law devastated.
