(Minghui.org) A judge in Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province recently acquitted a Beijing man who was charged with “Using a cult to sabotage law enforcement,” a pretext commonly used by the Chinese Communist Party to frame and sentence Falun Gong practitioners.

Mr. Pang You was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong while visiting his business partners in Yichuan last December. During his trial on April 27, 2015, the Yichuan police and prosecutor presented falsified evidence in an attempt to get him sentenced.

The detention in Yichuan was the third time for the former head of Aoyun Village Planning Office in the Chaoyang District in Beijing. Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. Pang had been sentenced twice to a total of 12 years on the same charge, that his practice of Falun Gong undermined law enforcement.

The Yichuan judge's not-guilty verdict issued on June 11 came as a surprise to Mr. Pang and his family. After all, they have known no other Falun Gong practitioner who was acquitted after being accused of committing the same so-called “crime.”

Mr. Pang and his supporters suspect the new wave of lawsuits against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin probably had something to do with the judge's decision. As more and more Falun Gong practitioners in China exercise their legal rights to seek justice against Jiang for launching the persecution, his subordinates at various government levels, including judges, are beginning to ponder their own fates.

Mr. Pang has returned to his home in Beijing.
