Additional Persecution News from China – May 22, 2015 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 4 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 10 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Mr. Yao Yuan and Mr. Luo Zhijun Tortured in Prison

Mr. Yao Yuan, in his forties, was sentenced to eight years in prison, and held in the Tilanqiao Prison, where he was forced to sit on a small stool for extended periods of time. He was often assaulted by inmates and shocked with multiple electric batons simultaneously by guards.

Mr. Luo Zhijun was also forced to sit on a small stool for extended periods of time. Inmates frequently assaulted him and prohibited him from sleeping.

2. [Weifang, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Maolian Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Maolian from Weicheng District was sentenced to a three year and six month prison term. She was taken to the Zhangqiu Prison.

3. [Chongqing] Four Practitioners Sentenced

Mr. Xiong Hongwei from Wulong County was sentenced to seven years in prison on May 18, 2015, and Ms. Feng Zhilan to three years. Both Mr. Liu Wuhua and Mr. Liu Banghe were sentenced with a probation.

4. [Dalian, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Dalian Domestic Security Division and the Nanshidaojie Police Station barged into Ms. Li Shuying's home on May 20, 2014, and arrested four practitioners who were reading Falun Gong book together. The arrested practitioners included Ms. Li Shuying, Ms. Gong Shiying, Ms. Wang Hong, and Ms. Li Yangping. Their homes were ransacked. Ms. Gong was released.

5. [Jiaozuo, Henan Province] Ms. Ji Suqin Arrested

Ms. Ji Suqin was arrested at home on May 21, 2015, by officers from the Qinyang 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the Xicheng Police Station.

6. [Laixi, Shandong Province] Ms. Cheng Shufang Arrested

Ms. Cheng Shufang, in her fifties, from Rizhuang Town, was arrested by officers from the Rizhuang Police Station on May 16, 2015. She was taken to the Pudong Detention Center in Jimo.

7. [Beijing] Mr. Jin Yu Arrested

Mr. Jin Yu was arrested on May 15, 2015. His whereabouts are unknown.

8. [Zhucheng, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Huanlan Arrested

Ms. Wang Huanlan from Longdu Community was arrested at home on May 19, 2015.

9. [Deyang, Sichuan Province] Mr. Jiang Jiayu Arrested

Mr. Jiang Jiayu, 59, from Jingyang Distrcit, was arrested on May 17, 2015, by officers from the Chengbei Police Station for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked, and she was taken to the Hexing Forced Labor Camp in Guanghan on May 21.

10. [Shanghai] Ms. Tang Baozhi Arrested

Ms. Tang Baozhi, in her sixties, from Jinhua in Zhejiang Province, was arrested on May 15, 2015 near Zhongshan Park in Shanghai, for raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Huayanglu Police Station and is being held in the Changning Detention Center.
