(Minghui.org) Ms. Tian Xiaoqin was arrested in March 2015, for talking to fair-goers about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was brutally beaten by guards while being held at a local detention center, leaving bruises all over her body.

The local police chief extorted 1,800 yuan from her family before releasing her ten days later.

Ms. Tian is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yi County, in Baoding City, Hebei Province. She was seized at a temple fair on March 24, while talking to people about Falun Gong. The police also confiscated her MP3 audio player and cash.

Huang Jianliang, chief of Tanghu Town Police Station, instructed his officers to confine Ms. Tian in to an iron chair, with her body immobilized.

The police took photos of her, and forcibly pressed her fingerprints on some unidentified documents.

Ms. Tian was forced to undergo a medical examination and blood draw at a hospital that night without any explanation. She was taken to Yi County Detention Center right after the hospital visit.

Ms. Tian was beaten with rubber clubs on two occasions during her incarceration there. Guard Xie Dong gave her a beating on the third day, and detention center director Liu Wei roughed her up the very next day.

Ms. Tian went on a hunger strike to protest the beatings and the illegal detention. She was released on the tenth day, but only after police chief Huang extorted 1,800 yuan from her family.
