(Minghui.org) “She will be sentenced to three years in prison if she dismisses her lawyer—five years if not,” said Judge Zhu Sixiao to Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Shuyu's family.
Ms. Sun, arrested and held at the Benxi Detention Center since July 17, 2014, was scheduled for her trial on December 8, 2014. The trial took place Mingshan District Court in the Benxi City, Liaoning Province. Judge Zhu summoned Ms. Sun's family, demanding that Ms. Sun plead guilty and dismiss her lawyer.
Ms. Sun's son knelt before her, while her husband, daughter, and son-in-law begged her to dismiss the lawyer. She refused.
Then, the judge postponed the court session, and instead of taking Ms. Sun back to the detention center, he forced the family to keep pressuring her. With her lawyer absent, she finally gave in to the pressure and agreed to give up her legal defense.
The lawyer saw Ms. Sun the next day and found it hard to believe what had happened. He also noted that while perfectly normal the day before, Ms. Sun now looked looked lost and dazed.
A new trial schedule has not been set at this time.
