(Minghui.org) Deputy chief Yao Fuxing, from the Junde Police Station in Hegang City, led a group of officers on January 3, 2014, to force entry into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xie Xianglan. They arrested her and a relative, ransacked her home, then threatened her. Yao Fuxing knocked Ms. Xie down, injuring her. The police confiscated her Dafa books, DVDs, an MP3 player, some cash, Master Li's photo, and other personal belongings. They also destroyed her DVD players and confiscated her daughter's computer.

The police also arrested her 81 year-old relative, Ms. Liu Shuhua, who had just arrived to visit. The police then extorted 1,000 yuan from Liu Shuhua's daughter before releasing her.

Ms. Xie had previously suffered from a severe stomach illness and a hunchback condition. After she started practicing Falun Gong, her stomach illness disappeared and her body straightened. She also became more open-minded, and enjoyed a completely new life. She was also able to rise from illiteracy, and finish reading the book Zhuan Falun .

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, and arrested practitioners nationwide. Ms. Xie Xianglan was detained three times for persisting in her beliefs.

Confined in a Detention Center in 2000

At 68 years old, Ms. Xie traveled to Beijing on February 5, 2000, to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. In Beijing, she met practitioners from throughout the country, and planned to go to the appeals department with them. By then, over twenty practitioners from Linyi, Shandong Province were practicing the Falun Gong exercises outside.

Ms. Xie went to practice with them on one occasion, when a police vehicle suddently stopped in front of her. An officer questioned what she was doing, and she explained that she practiced Falun Gong. The police arrested her immediately and pushed her into the vehicle. Meanwhile, the officers also arrested three other practitioners.

The police transported the practitioners to the police station, asked Ms. Xie for her home address, then dragged her to another room where Zhang Chunqing, deputy chief of the Hegang City Police Department and also the chief of the Hegang City Detention Center, was waiting. Once Zhang saw her, he shouted at her and threatened to beat her. She was later placed in a large iron cage filled with other practitioners who had been arrested.

Soon after, she was taken to another room, which was also filled with practitioners from Heilongjiang Province. The police handcuffed her and the other practitioners together with a thick chain. They remained in this condition for two days and nights. The officers then escorted her back to Hegang where she was held at the detention center.

She and other practitioners were transferred to the Luobei County Detention Center two days later.

It was now wintertime, and very cold in northern China. The detention center was unheated and was therefore very cold inside. The detained practitioners were allowed only one bun and a small amount of soup each day. They were not provided with bedding or blankets at night. A few days later, a hurricane tore away the roof, leaving the ceiling open to the sky. The practitioners were now extremely cold and hungry. A kind person sent over a pot of cooked food and a few bundles of plastic sheets. The practitioners hung the plastic sheets across the windows and slept under the sheets. Rain poured inside the room, turning the floor into mud. One elderly practitioner died from a heart attack.

One CCP leader led a performance group to play a show slandering Falun Dafa, attempting to brainwash the practitioners and force them to give up their beliefs. The practitioners recited the Falun Dafa teachings together, and the show was finally cancelled. The CCP leader became very angry and destroyed the practitioners' limited daily necessities, then threw their food to the ground. Three days later, he transferred the remaining practitioners to the second detention center of Hegang City. Only three days after their arrival, an elderly female practitioner died due to the mistreatment.

Ms. Xie Xianglan was held at the Luobei Detention Center for three months, then transferred to the city's first detention center where she remained until the fall.

Magically Escaped a Severe Car Accident

Then 70 year-old Ms. Xie was hit by a car in Spring 2002. The car's bumper struck her body with great force, knocking her to the ground. The impact sent her shoes flying over 20 meters, and rendered her unconscious. The driver tried to escape, but was stopped by other people.

Ms. Xie woke up surrounded by a group of people who thought she was dead. But she thought and treated herself as a practitioner, and followed Master's teachings. She told the driver, “I'm fine. You can go.” The driver said, “Where do you want to go? Let me give you a ride.” She said, “Ok. You can just give me a ride to the bridge over there.”

The people surrounding her said to the driver, “This elderly lady did not try to extort money from you. You should buy her dinner.” Ms. Xie just got out of the car at the bridge and left. After she returned home, her body felt fine except for some pain in her feet, but she quickly recovered.

Detained and Transferred to Several Detention Centers in 2002

Soon after the car accident, local police broke into Ms. Xie's home on April 21, 2002, arrested her, and took her to the second detention center in Hegang City. She was detained there until mid-summer, then transferred to the Harbin City Drug Addiction Treatment Center. The center staff felt that Ms. Xie was “too old,” and subsequently sent her back to the detention center.

Ms. Xie was held at the second detention center for over a year and suffered from multiple conditions which were brought on by severe mistreatment. She developed high blood pressure and was hospitalized for over three months. Following her release from the hospital, she was transferred back to the detention center where she was held for another two months before being released.

Ms. Xie Arrested at Age 76, Her Daughter Dies from Emotional Shock

Officers Yao and Wang from the Junde Police Station broke into and ransacked Ms. Xie's home on August 3, 2008. They confiscated her Dafa books, MP3 players, 200 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings.

The police broke into her home again the following day to arrest her, but she was not at home.

She returned home at noon to cook on the third day. Officer Wang appeared from the side while she was opening her door, and arrested her. She was detained at the police station, then taken to the Xing'an District government building. During this trip, Ms. Xie shouted out the window, “Falun Dafa is good.”

After arriving at the government building, she was transferred again to the second detention center in Hegang City. Even the police in the detention center complained, “Why did you arrest such an elderly lady?”

During Ms. Xie's detention, her second daughter, Wu Meiyan, was emotionally traumatized. She fell ill, and soon after passed away. Ms. Xie's first and third daughters tried very hard to get her out of the detention center so that she could see her beloved daughter for the last time, but the police did not allow it.
