(Minghui.org) Ms. Ma Dongmei has now been detained in Yaojia Detention Center for over four months, ever since her illegal arrest on August 31, 2013, by officers from Xianglujiao Police Station. Her family has been denied their right to visit her.
People who know that her family is being targeted for persecution have said, “It's terrible. The CCP causes so much trouble for Ms. Ma's family simply because they practice Falun Gong. The Party doesn't let people to live in peace.”
Prior to the National Games held in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, this past September, police in Dalian arrested several Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Ma, claiming it was necessary to "bolster security for the games."
Arrested and Detained Many Times
Since 1999 when the Party starting persecuting Falun Gong, Ms. Ma has been arrested and detained many times.
On March 8, 2006, she was reported for distributing materials about Falun Gong. Officers from Fumin Police Station arrested her and ransacked her home, taking her picture of the founder of Falun Gong and her Falun Gong books. She was detained for 15 days.
Ms. Ma's father could not cope with the injustice being done to his innocent daughter. He became depressed and his health deteriorated. He passed away in 2007.
On June 8, 2007, officers from Nansha Police Station arrested Ms. Ma and ransacked her home again. They also took her mother to the police station. She was later released. Ms. Ma's sister rushed to their home and saw the place in chaos. 50,000 yuan, which her father's employer had given them when he died, was also confiscated.
On May 6, 2008, Shahekou District Court tried Ms. Ma without notifying the family. She was sentenced to three years and taken to Dabei Prison. Before her release in 2010, her asthma recurred and the skin on her hands broke open and bled and itched. After returning home and practicing Falun Gong, her asthma disappeared and her hands recovered.
Ms. Ma's arrest and detention greatly upset her 80-year-old mother, whom she lived with and cared for. Her mother's health began to decline. She began losing her eyesight and could not hear well. Finally, she could no longer take care of herself.
Falun Gong Brought Her New Life
Ms. Ma Dongmei had a difficult childhood. She developed asthma when she was three. When it was serious she could not eat, drink, or sleep. Her family tried Western and Chinese medicines, home remedies, acupuncture, and massage, but nothing helped.
There were eight people in the family, but her father was the only breadwinner. Trying to find a cure for her, her parents spent all their savings and had nothing left to get her treated. Several times the symptoms were so severe that she passed out. Her illness was a great burden on herself and her family.
But the worst was yet to come. When she was six, she fell from the second floor and lost consciousness. She came to after emergency treatment but she could not see. She needed an operation, but it was not done because she was so young.
After she reached school age, she missed half of her classes due to her asthma. She was so sickly and weak that, even by the time she was 20, she could not work. Her whole family worried about her.
In April 1994, she heard that Falun Gong works like magic to improve health. She started to practice the next day. Every day she read Falun Gong books and did the exercises. Gradually she had fewer and less severe asthma attacks and the symptoms became less and less.
Ms. Ma became healthy and cheerful. and she could even do some housework. The family finally had hope. Witnessing the amazing, positive changes in her daughter's health and outlook, Ms. Ma's mother and her sister also began to practice Falun Gong.
