(Minghui.org) Mr. Song Hongshui and his wife, Ms. Li Huiyun, were professors at Hebei Technology University. They were taken away from their home by officers from the Ninganlu Police Station in the Xinhua District, Shijiazhuang, on March 2, 2011. They have been detained for more than 22 months. They are being held in the Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center, where Ms. Li has been tortured so severely that she is now mentally unstable. Her hair has turned gray and she is not given enough to eat.

Xinhua District Court is supposed to announce its decision regarding Mr. Song Hongshui and Ms. Li Huiyun that was made on June 21, 2012. At that time, the couple's two defense attorneys entered not-guilty pleas for them. They rationally refuted every piece of so-called “evidence,” which was prepared by the Shijiazhuang Domestic Security Division and the local police station. The attorneys pointed out that the law enforcement officers behaved illegally. The police did not wear uniforms, nor did they present their identification cards, arrest warrants or a search warrant before they took the couple away and ransacked their home. The couple restated to the court that Falun Dafa is good. They pointed out that Falun Gong practitioners cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, which provides benefits and does no harm to society. Falun Gong practitioners don't harm anyone, and they don't commit crimes, while the departments and personnel that persecute Falun Gong practitioners do not follow the law and do commit crimes.

Ms. Li has been tortured in the Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center since March 2011. As a result, she cannot get out of bed and cannot turn over. She needs help with all her personal care and there is a monitor above her bed. She has been stripped of all human dignity. This inhuman persecution has resulted in her being mentally unstable.

Ms. Li, about 49, was among the first group of educators with a PhD at Hebei Technology University. She was an associate professor in the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the university. She won many national and international awards. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, she did not give up the practice and was repeatedly persecuted. The university canceled her academic contract and assigned her to clean hallways. Later on, the university stopped her salary and fired her. Ms. Li was once detained in a forced labor camp. She was also detained in a mental hospital twice, where she given unnecessary, debilitating drugs.

Ms. Li refused to do slave labor. She was handcuffed to a “frame” with metal chains for a long time. The “frame” is an instrument of torture set up in every cell. There is one big wide bed for several people and one small one in every cell. The “frame” is set up on the wall next to the small bed. It has two long metal handrails about one meter apart. The guards handcuffed Ms. Li to the handrails with the chains, forcing her to remain bedridden. She had to hold her hands up to sleep. She was forced to stay in the same position at all times and could not turn over or take a bath.

Ms. Li was often confined in a small cell. The guards transferred her to a different cell almost every month. She was not allowed to go outside for almost a year. Her hair turned gray. One day, a cell head tried to force her to say “the CCP is good” and she refused. The cell head then withheld her food, not even giving her a bun until she sang “Entering a New Era.”

Ms. Li Huiyun's situation is urgent. To everyone who believes in justice: Please pay attention to her case.
