A practitioner once told a middle aged lady on the street about how good Falun Gong was. After hearing the facts about Falun Gong, the lady led the practitioner by hand to her home. The practitioner wondered what was going on. It turned out that the lady knew that Falun Gong practitioners were trustworthy, and she wanted to ask the practitioner to help find a girlfriend for her son.
The lady said, “Nowadays society is corrupt. Across from my house there's a small hotel supposedly owned by a policeman. There are young girls and some guys in there every night messing around. Every time I see that, I get worried. We all know that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. We are decent people, and my son is 25 years old this year. I want to find a girl from a Falun Gong family to be my daughter-in-law. We believe such people are good people. We know that they respect their elders, treat their husbands well, educate their children properly, and get along with their neighbors. Now, people like that in our society are scarce. I was lucky to meet you today. I hope that you know someone suitable that you can introduce to my son.”
A Private Business Owner Has Good Eyes
In today’s extremely materialistic society, a lot of people will do anything to make money. Falun Gong practitioners are not only devoted to their work, but they do not seek to profit unfairly. Practitioner Xiaolian worked for the largest private enterprise in her local area. The company’s yearly earnings are in the hundreds of millions of yuan. People who work in the quality control department can make a lot of extra money by lowering the purity requirement of the outgoing materials, and it is very easy to do that without anyone detecting anything improper.
Many people wanted to work there, but the owner selected Xiaolian for the position. The owner knows that Falun Gong practitioners will not take advantage of their positions by stealing and making money dishonestly. In her work, Xiaolian is very conscientious. She often tells the workers, “You guys work all day so that you can make more money. Everyone at your age has elderly and children to take care of. I have seen your workplace, and I know it is hard work. I will be fair, but I will definitely not lower the product standards.” Seeing that Xiaolian is always very kind and never looks down on anyone, the workers respect and like her. They trust her and are very cooperative.
“He Is the One to Fix the House”
In Daying Village in Hebei Province, Li Weiming (a pseudonym) is a well-recognized, good person in the eyes of the villagers. People seeking his assistance are rarely refused, and they all respect him. Mr. Li says that it is because he learned Dafa.
Mr. Li is a contractor, and he treats his customers honestly and well. He thinks from the point of view of his customers when he does house repairs, and those whose houses he has fixed have become good friends. No matter how many years have passed, they still come back and look for him. Many come to him for help because his prices are low while the quality of his work is high, and he is honest, always thinking of his customers' best interests. He also never takes kickbacks from the suppliers when he buys materials. Three times the owner of the material supply store tried to give him kickbacks, but he returned them all. The homeowners were very grateful.
People say, “Nowadays, contractors take kickbacks all the time. They have deals with the supply stores, and they work together to jack up the prices.” Not only does Mr. Li not take kickbacks, but he does not even participate in any lunch or dinner parties with them. Many say, “People like that are just scarce these days.”
Mr. Li has so much business that he sometimes has to turn down jobs. Some people, however, would rather wait than try to find someone else to do the job.
Falun Gong Practitioners Do Not Accept Bribes
In 2006, a local business owner applied for a temporary land use permit from Zhijian (a pseudonym). Not knowing Zhijian was a practitioner, the businessman brought with him a few cartons of cigarettes as a gift, just as he had done with other inspectors. As the man was leaving, Zhijian asked him to take the cigarettes back. The owner insisted that Zhijian keep them, worried that Zhijian felt that it was not enough. Then Zhijian’s wife told him, “We are Falun Gong practitioners. We cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and think of others at all times. It is not easy for you to run a business, and we will not irresponsibly take people’s gifts. It is a cultivator’s principle. Please take your gift with you. We will take care of your application as best we can.” The owner was moved and said, “Nowadays you cannot find other people who will help you without giving them a gift.”
Another time, Zhijian helped a private business rent a large lot for only 2,000 yuan. The owner deemed it a great deal and invited Zhijian to his home, saying that he wanted to discuss some business. When Zhijian got there, he handed Zhijian 5,000 yuan. Zhijian told him that he believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and cultivated in Falun Gong, so he could not take any gifts or money. But no matter what Zhijian said, the owner insisted that he take it. Finally Zhijian agreed to take 2,000 and left, but he later turned the 2,000 in to pay for the owner’s rent. When the owner learned of this, he was greatly moved. The news spread, and everyone soon knew that Falun Gong practitioners do not accept bribes, and that they are truly good people.
Policeman Says, “I Have Witnessed It Today – Falun Dafa Is Good”
Once, practitioner Jin Xiu went to a corner supermarket to buy something. She brought a few truth-clarification DVDs and some Dafa information materials with her so that she could leave them at the supermarket. While she was walking, she suddenly heard a loud cry from behind her. Turning her head, she found that a car had hit an 8 or 9-year-old young girl. She thought the girl might have been injured as she lay on the ground crying. A crowd gathered around her, but no one went up to help. Seeing this, the driver of the car tried to escape.
Jin Xiu rushed over to help the little girl up and to prevent the driver from escaping. The driver yelled at her for her meddling, and during the pushing and shoving, the truth-clarification materials that Jin Xiu had on her fell out. The driver got excited and yelled, “You are a Falun Gong practitioner! How dare you interfere with my affairs! I am calling the police to arrest you.” Undaunted, Jin Xiu said, “Falun Gong-- so what? It requires us to be good people. Not like you, trying to escape after hitting someone.” The driver was speechless. By this time, the girl’s parents and the police had arrived. After learning what had happened, the parents thanked Jin Xiu profusely. The driver dared not say anything, but pointed to the DVDs and Dafa materials that Jin Xiu had on her, and he told the police that she was a practitioner. The policeman took a DVD and looked at it. Then he said to Jin Xiu, “Everyone says that Dafa is good. I have personally witnessed it today. Can I have this DVD?”
In today’s corrupt society, gambling, drugs, prostitution, murder, and conflicts are everywhere. Many people will do anything to make money. Many, when faced with another person's life-threatening situation, will pretend to have not seen it. Falun Gong practitioners do not fight for their own interests and are, instead, willing to make sacrifices to help others. They help improve the society, the nation, and the entire world.
