While studying in college, I was very interested in finding answers to naturally occurring phenomena that science hadn't solved. However, the more I learned, the more questions I had. In the beginning of the 1980s, qigong became popular in Mainland China. Because it demonstrated supernormal phenomena, I joined in with great interest. I intermittently attended many qigong schools.
After graduation from college, I successively enrolled in two universities for further study, and I finally received my doctoral degree from the most famous university in Mainland China. In addition, I was then invited to join the faculty at this most famous university. Ten years of effort didn't resolve my questions and confusions about natural mysteries. Instead, the more I studied modern science, the more drawbacks and loopholes I found in the scientific explanations of the natural laws.
I wondered, "What is my direction in life? What should I do to resolve my confusion and obtain those answers that I really wanted in my heart? I often anxiously wandered on campus, feeling that my life was passing away freely.
One day in May 1995, I discovered that someone was teaching people to practice Falun Gong for free in a small wooded area near my dormitory. In the beginning, I thought that it was just another qigong, and I got the book titled Falun Gong because of my interest in qigong. After reading the book, I felt quite shocked. Although I had read many qigong teachings, I never had this kind of feeling. I was desperate to learn more about Falun Gong. Therefore, I went to the wooded area again the next day and got the book titled Zhuan Falun. I finished reading Zhuan Falun in one sitting. I was so immersed in the teaching that I didn't realize it had become dark.
After I finished reading Zhuan Falun, my heart seemed to be released from long-term confusion and burdens. Regardless of my confusion and questions about natural mysteries or about my life, I became clear on all my questions. A happiness beyond words rose from deep in my heart. It made me feel light and relaxed in my heart and body. This feeling lasted for quite a few days, which I had never experienced before. To my surprise, on the same day after I finished reading Zhuan Falun, although I hadn't yet started to do the exercises, my insomnia (caused by long-term pressures in academic life) disappeared, and I never experienced insomnia again since then.
In the early morning on the following day, I hurried to the wooded area to learn to do the exercises. At that time, I noticed that the manners and voices of those assistants were so good and unlike anything I had ever seen from other people. They treated people very well, as if they were our long lost friends. No doubt it was the effect of practicing Falun Gong. I decided in my heart to practice Falun Gong and to become a good person like them. In this way, I fortunately started to practice Falun Gong.
Attaining the Tao and Benefitting
What Master taught in Zhuan Falun combined knowledge and phenomena from modern science, but it was far beyond modern science. Practicing Falun Gong is not only about doing the exercises; it is also important to discipline oneself with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in one's daily life and work.
While truly practicing Falun Gong, I amazingly found that the same sentence in a later reading of Zhuan Falun led to understanding that was quite different from the understanding I gained in previous readings. Additionally, I often felt shocked in my heart. Although I had studied in my academic life for so many years, I never had the same feeling that I got from reading Zhuan Falun. I gradually came to understand that Zhuan Falun is a very unique book, and that only by truly practicing cultivation and following the requirements discussed in Zhuan Falun, would I obtain deeper principles.
It is indeed true that, among all the theories in the world, Dafa is the true science. It perfectly explains everything in the universe; its beauty is far beyond words. Dafa is just what I have always been looking for and what I really want in my life; I finally found it.
Looking back at the human world, after practicing cultivation for a while, I was no longer confused about the complexity and variety of the human world. Instead, I felt it was so clear and simple. From Zhuan Falun, I understood the true meaning of life, and felt greatly consoled in my heart. I no longer felt emotional pain about the elapsed time and my unresolved my questions in life.
My physical condition also became much better after the burden in my mind was removed. Since I first read Zhuan Falun, the insomnia that afflicted me for so many years immediately disappeared. Through practicing the cultivation, I came to understand the reason for people's conflicts; I cared less about my personal interests; and I became much happier to help others.
In order to help disciples understand the principles of practicing cultivation, Master answered disciples' questions, and taught a lot around Zhuan Falun on different occasions. What also shocked me was that every time Master taught, He did so for several hours without any text. Some of the teachings were published into books. I found that the contents of the books were transcribed from the tape recordings. The way that Master taught and published books was so unique, and reflects great wisdom!
In subsequent teachings, Master taught things at higher and higher levels, which was related to greater systems and was far beyond the human science and minds. Master often taught from different angles. But all the teachings from different classes and angles were well connected and combined. It is so amazing! This is the real truth!
Spreading Blessedness
For such a precious and wonderful practice, isn't it better that more people know Falun Gong and benefit from it? While practicing Falun Gong, fellow practitioners and I started to introduce Falun Gong to more people.
Just within my university, more and more teachers and students successively walked into the cultivation. There was originally only one practice site in the wooded area. Later on, there were nine practice sites with more than one hundred practitioners on campus.
A doctor of physics who studied Einstein's theory of relativity was amazed by Master's Fa principles. After he practiced Falun Gong for a while, he said, "I wish I could have practiced Falun Gong much earlier. Falun Gong not only benefits my body and mind, but also guides me a lot in my scientific research."
A former president of the university also practiced Falun Gong with his wife. They were nearly 70 years old. Before practicing Falun Gong, they were both in poor health and suffered from many illnesses. After practicing, their health became much better. The university imported an advanced medical device that could examine one's condition through a drop of blood. The president's wife first went to have the examination. The results showed that her health was very good, as she was only in her 40s, which amazed both her and the doctors. She happily told her husband about her results. The president initially didn't believe it. He also went to have the examination, and he received similar results.
In a dwelling on campus, there was a graduate student who suffered from leukemia. One morning, we were doing the exercises, while the student was watching us from nearby. His face looked as pale as a sheet, and all his hair had fallen out due to the chemotherapy. At first, he just stood there. Later on he had to sit down because he was too weak to stand. A practitioner then went to ask him whether he would like to practice Falun Gong. He nodded and got the book Zhuan Falun. Afterwards, he started to practice cultivation at that practice site. His changes amazed each of us at this site. We found that he got better and better every day. Within two months, his complexion became reddish-white and all his hair grew back. Three months later, he went for an examination at the hospital. The results showed that he was very healthy. How amazing it is. After personally seeing this, his parents also started to practice Falun Dafa. Half-a-year later, the student returned to class and successfully achieved a master's degree. There were many similar experiences for other practitioners around me.
It has been 18 years since Falun Gong was first taught in 1992. In Mainland China alone, there are over one hundred million people practicing Falun Gong. Around the whole world, Falun Gong is practiced in more than one hundred countries; the book Zhuan Falun has been translated into dozens of languages. Regardless of whether one is a highly trained intellectual or uneducated, everyone benefits from Zhuan Falun. Isn't this matter itself a miracle? It must be an important and great event in human history. Let's think about it, does any theory or book have this kind of amazing achievement? Isn't it worth our deep consideration?
