(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 12 Falun Dafa practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wei Lirui Arrested
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on August 20, 2009, five policemen from Qiaoxi District, Shijiazhuang City broke into the home of Ms. Wei Lirui, a practitioner employed in the State Tax Bureau, Qiaoxi District, Shijiazhuang City. They ransacked Ms. Wei's home and arrested her. Presently her whereabouts are unknown.
2. [Shanghai] Ms. Zheng Shuhui Tortured in a Mental Hospital for Ten Years
Ms. Zheng Shuhui, around 60 years old, was a teacher at Shenyang Normal University. After her marriage, she continued her teaching career with the Shanghai University of Technology, Zhabei District Branch. Since July 20, 1999, when the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Zheng has been to Beijing twice to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa. She was detained and persecuted following her trips to Beijing and later sent to Zhabei District Mental Hospital in Shanghai, where she has remained for the past 10 years. The doctors at the hospital have forced her to take psychotropic drugs. Her husband cooperated with the police and kept her under surveillance during the intervals when she was allowed to return home. Her husband hired a housemaid to monitor her. They do not allow her to read Dafa books, to practice the exercises, or to contact other people.
3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cong Rixu Sentenced to a Three-Year Prison Term
Ms. Cong Rixu from Dalian City has been sentenced to a three-year prison term.
4. [Shanghai] Ms. Li Yaohua and Her Daughter, Ms. Zhang Yibo, Interrogated with Torture
Ms. Li Yaohua and her daughter, Ms. Zhang Yibo, are now detained in Xuhui Detention Center of Shanghai. Officials from the Xuhui District 610 Office and the local police are interrogating these two practitioners using torture. They deprived Ms. Li and Ms. Zhang of sleep for a long time, harmed them physically, and threatened them.
5. [Ziyang City, Sichuan Province] Additional Persecution News about Ms. Wang Canying
On the morning of August 13, 2009, officers from Chengbei Police Station arrested Ms. Wang Canying, 70, who lives in Chengbei Village, Yanjiang District, Ziyang City. They forced her to guide them to her daughter's home and ransacked it. Later they took her to the Er'e Lake Brainwashing Center, Yingjie Town, Ziyang City.
6. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Song Jiwei Imprisoned in Benxi Prison
On August 2, 2007, Mr. Song Jiwei from Dandong City was sentenced to 13 months of forced labor. He was detained in Benxi Forced Labor Camp until his release date and then taken straight to the detention center. After eight months, he was secretly sentenced to another three-and-a-half-year prison term. He is now detained in Benxi Prison, Liaoning Province.
7. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqin Arrested
On August 17, 2009, Mr. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqing from Lanqi Town, Fengcheng City, were reported to the police while they were explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Hongqi Town, Fengcheng City. Ju Chunbo, superintendent of the Hongqi Police Station, and several other officers arrested the two practitioners. The police have transferred Mr. Li and Ms. Sun to Baifang Detention Center in Dandong Province.
8. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province ] Mr. Wang Jinliang Arrested in Beijing
Mr. Wang Jinliang, 64, from Laizhou City lives at his daughter's home in Beijing. At approximately 3 p.m. on August 20, 2009, police arrested him while he was distributing informational materials in the Haidian District of Beijing.
9. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Dong Jinbo Tortured in Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Dong Jinbo from Dazhuang Village, Yinfeng Town, Fengnan District, Tangshan City, is now detained in No. 2 Group, Hehuakeng Forced Labor Camp. He was severely tortured at the camp and is currently also suffering from eczema and skin ulcers all over his body. His mother, over 80 years old, was sent to the hospital three times. Her condition is now critical.
10. [Beise City, Guangxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xinyu Paralyzed as a Result of Torture in Guangxi Forced Labor Camp
In April 2009, Ms. Zhang Xinyu from Baise City was paralyzed as a result of torture in the Guangxi Women's Forced Labor Camp. The muscles of her lower legs have atrophied and she is unable to walk.
11. [Ezhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Xiuying and Ms. Song Chunmei Arrested and Taken to Hubei Province Brainwashing Center
Ms. Liu Xiuying, 55, was an accountant employed at the Echeng Hotel. On October 31, 2007, police arrested her while she was distributing Falun Dafa information materials on Liangzi Island, Lianzi Lake Center, Ezhou City. Later she was sentenced to forced labor. On August 1, 2009, she was released and her family took her home. On August 6, officials from Ezhou City 610 Office and officers from Phoenix Police Station, Ezhou City, arrested her and took her to the Hubei Province Legal Education Center, where they continue to brainwash her.
Ms. Song Chunmei, over 50, was employed as a director at the Ezhou City Bank. In July 2005, police arrested her and sentenced her to a four-year prison term. On July 26, 2009, officials from the Ezhou City 610 Office and the Phoenix Police Station in Ezhou City arrested her again and took her to the Hubei Province Legal Education Center, where they continue to brainwash her.
12. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Jiangdong Receives Extended Prison Term
Mr. Sun Jiangdong from Binzhou City received an extended prison term. He has been transferred to the Shandong Province Legal Education Center, which is actually a brainwashing center.
13. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fan Yanqi Arrested Again
In August 2009, police arrested Mr. Fan Yanqi from Jimo City, Qingdao, Shandong Province.
14. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Xiuyue Denied Release to Receive Medical Care
Ms. Wang Xiuyue from Harbin City has been imprisoned for seven years. She is now exhibiting symptoms of illness and receiving treatment in the Harbin Central Hospital. She is due to be released for medical care, but police from Gexin Street Police Station, Nangang District and the State Security Division refuse to sign the release document.
15. [Xintian County, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Meiwen Arrested
On the morning of August 18, 2009, people from Tantian Village, Xintian County, reported Liu Meiwen from Xintian County for explaining the truth about Falun Dafa in Tiantian Village, Xintian County. Officers from Chengdong Police Station arrested her at her home. Ms. Liu is now in the county detention center.
16. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qi Shuyan and Ms. Yan Xihua Arrested and Taken to Harbin Women's Prison
On August 19, 2009, police arrested Ms. Qi Shuyan and Ms. Yan Xihua from Shuangyashan City and took them to the Harbin Women's Prison.
17. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Hu Yunxia Arrested
Ms. Hu Yunxia is from Jiujiang City. On August 17, 2009, her employer reported her to the authorities and she was arrested. Later, the police ransacked her home and confiscated two computers.
18. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Additional Persecution News about Mr. Liu Qixiao and His Brother, Mr. Liu Mingxiao
On August 5, 2009, police arrested Mr. Liu Qixiao, over 40 years old, from the Chencang District of Baoji City. Mr. Liu Mingxiao, who is Mr. Liu Qixiao's brother, was sentenced to two years of forced labor and is still in the labor camp. Their elderly mother and young child were left alone at home. No one is available to take care of them. Police ransacked Mr. Liu Qixiao's home and confiscated some Falun Dafa materials.
19. [Chongqing City] Ms. Tang Yingxue Arrested and Sentenced to Forced Labor
On July 29, 2009, Ms. Tang Yingxue, 60, who worked as a teacher in Taihe Middle School, Hechuan District, Chongqing City, was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in Gulou Town. Police arrested her and confiscated all of her Falun Dafa books and materials. Later she was sentenced to one year of forced labor and suspension of one year of her salary. She is now in Xishanping Forced Labor Camp in Chongqing City.
20. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Dai Guomin Arrested
Officers from Xujiapeng Police Station arrested 40-year-old Mr. Dai Guomin from Wuhan City. He was found logging onto a Falun Dafa website in an Internet cafe close to Hubei University, Wuhan City. His whereabouts are now unknown.
21. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Liming and Her Husband, Mr. Zhang Lihui, Arrested and Taken to a Forced Labor Camp
On June 1, 2009, police arrested Ms. Wu Liming and her husband, Mr. Zhang Lihui, from Changsha City. On August 16, they took them to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp.
