(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

The former deputy head of the Police Department in Baishan, Jilin Province, Zhang Fuli, also the head of 610 Office, persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. In the fall of 2008, he died suddenly at his home.

Zhang Fuli, 64, only had slight tracheitis and a mild case of heart disease before the persecution started on July 20, 1999. Everybody who knew him knew that he had been fairly healthy and physically active. After the persecution began, Zhang actively followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Jiang Zemin's order to slander Falun Gong and torture Falun Gong practitioners. He personally organized, planned, arrested, and persecuted over 50 practitioners in Baishan City. Over 30 were subjected to forced labor. Nine of them were tortured to death.

Practitioners regularly explained the truth about Falun Gong to him and appealed to his conscience and sense of morality, trying to persuade him to change his behavior and stop the awful things he was doing. Zhang refused to listen. He loudly boasted that he had been quite healthy throughout the entire time that he persecuted practitioners and that he did not believe that persecuting Falun Gong would lead to any kind of "retribution." He said that was just superstition. In reality, after July 20, 1999, Zhang's health began to quickly deteriorate, becoming worse with each passing year. In 2003, he was diagnosed with severe heart disease, liver disease, and kidney problems.

Zhang Fuli retired at age 58. Due to his poor physical condition, he was forced to stay at home and had to rely on a variety of medicines to stay alive. He often felt as if he were suffocating, which was worse than death. He died in 2008.

I hope anyone that is still committing evil deeds against Falun Gong will wake up and realize that they should not do wrong merely for career advancement or self-interest. The Buddha Fa is merciful, but it is also solemn and dignified. Good is rewarded, evil is punished. Please realize that your life is precious.

Wang Fuyun, Former Head of the Qigong Association in Baishan, Jilin Province, Died of Lung Caner

Wang Fuyun, in his 60s, was the former head of the Qigong Association in Baishan. Before July 20, 1999, he followed the CCP closely, helping to fabricate lies and slander Falun Gong. He collected practitioners' names and reported them to the city 610 Office. After July 20, he actively participated in the persecution of practitioners in brainwashing facilities and forced labor camps. Practitioners compassionately clarified the truth about Falun Gong to him numerous times and asked him to stop what he was doing and instead do good deeds, but he wouldn't listen.

In 2003, Wang Fuyun was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He died while undergoing surgery.
