(Clearwisdom.net) (By a Minghui correspondent from Tianjin) In February 2008 Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Guomin, from Tianjin Tanggu, was illegally arrested by the Tanggu District National Security Group and the 610 Office agents. After being detained at the Zhaojiadi Detention Center in Tanggu District for over seven months, she was sent to Xiqing District Women's Prison in Tianjin on October 9, 2008, where she remains to this day.
Xu Guomin was subjected to continuous forced brainwashing, in attempts to make her to give up her belief in the teachings and practice of Falun Gong. She was also tortured with heavy labor and physical punishment. Due to the long-term persecution, Xu Guomin now suffers from intervertebral disc injury. The Doctor who examined her said she needs surgery but the prison administration will not allow the surgery and continues to force her to do hard labor.
Timeline of Ms Xu Guomin's Persecution
In February 2008, the National Security Subgroup from Tanggu District, Tanggu 610 Office agents, and police officers were illegally arresting Falun Gong practitioners en masse. They detained over twenty practitioners from Xiangyang Street, Hangzhou Dao, Hetou, Zhongbacun, Xingang, Development District, etc. Many practitioners were released after their non-practicing families were extorted by the police for a lot of money.
Xu Guomin, Liu Shanmin, Bai Hong, Song Hongcui and Qi Changrong were interrogated, deprived of sleep and tortured, in attempts to force them to reveal information. Their families were forced to send money to the prison but they were not allowed see the imprisoned practitioners. The prison heads treated practitioner Xu Guomin as a serious offender and shackled her feet with heavy weights, while also handcuffing her and subjecting her to both physical and mental torture. According to the eye witness accounts, Falun Gong practitioners Xu Guomin, Song Hongcui, Qi Changrong became extremely skinny and their faces showed bruises from beatings. All of Xu Guomin's previously black hair turned grey.
On June 18, Tanggu District Court secretly held a closed trial for Bai Hong, Qi Changrong and Song Hongcui. Qi Changrong spoke openly by firmly denying that cultivating Falun Gong is illegal. She emphasized that she experienced good health after she started practicing Falun Gong. She stated that it is perfectly legal and in accordance with the Chinese Constitution to explain the facts about Falun Gong to people, as this will help many Chinese people understand the nature of this persecution and choose not to support it. She said, "Falun Dafa is good!" The court officials present were visibly moved. According to insiders, Xu Guomin and Liu Shanmin did not make an appearance in court because their bodies were severely tortured.
In mid-October, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel secretly sentenced Xu Guomin, Bai Hong, Qi Changrong and Song Hongcui without informing their family members. Qi Changrong was sentenced to a five-year term, Song Hongcui was sentenced to three years, Bai Hong was sentenced to three years and Xu Guomin was sentenced to three years. On October 16, someone from the prison called Xu Guomin's family and told them that Xu Guomin was sentenced to a three-year term. The National Security Subgroup, 610 Office, and court did not notify the families and pronounced the sentences without following legal procedures.
