The Ambassador
Embassy of Thailand

14th December 2005

Dear Ambassador,

We wish to express our deep concern over the recent Thai police harassment of Falun Gong practitioners during a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese embassy in Bangkok, which was held to protest against Chinese police brutality.

It is clear that the Thai police were under the direction of Chinese embassy staff when they seized the practitioners' banners, searched their bags and forcibly moved them from positions they had freely allowed on previous occasions.

As you will be aware, Falun Gong practitioners have endured severe persecution at the hands of the Chinese government since July 1999 when Falun Gong was outlawed. Since then nearly 3000 practitioners have been tortured to death and millions more have suffered as a result of barbaric subjugation by Chinese officialdom.

The Chinese Communist Party [CCP], which runs all affairs in China, wants to extend the persecution of Falun Gong on a worldwide scale. They use their embassies to protect spies' activities against Falun Gong practitioners outside China. Although their activities are not condoned by foreign governments, these governments have so far chosen to compromise their moral values and to help the CCP to widen the scope of the persecution.

We hope that Thailand will not succumb to the intimidation and pressure put on it by the CCP to contribute towards the persecution of Falun Gong. We urge you to try to convince your government that they should stop the harassment of Falun Gong practitioners and stop yielding to the CCP's pressure, which is a serious compromise of Thailand's fundamental moral and political principles. We would genuinely appreciate your urgent help in this matter.

Yours sincerely,

John Dee (Vice-Chairman)
