(Clearwisdom.net) I was devastated when I heard the news that our fellow practitioner Ms. Wang Guofang was tortured to death at Qiqihar City's Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp; I could not hold back my tears. My vivid memories of her flashed in my head.
In April 1998, when I first went to the practice site and met Ms. Wang, she impressed me very much. She stood at the front during practice so that new practitioners could adjust and correct their movements from watching her. After the exercise demonstration, she would take time to individually teach new practitioners and correct their movements. It was also the same when she was teaching the sitting exercise; I would see her patiently showing the hand gestures to new practitioners.
When Jiang's regime began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, she was the first practitioner to continue doing the exercises outside and the only one who meditated early in the morning at the practice site. At the practice site, the policemen, her brother and mother would stand in front of her, tried to persuade and pressure her to stop practicing the exercise and go home, but she never stopped and continued until she finished. The next day she'd wake up on time early in the morning and go to the practice site to do the exercises. Fearing the police's harassment and pressure, her mother kneeled down in front of her, trying to stop her, but she persistently finished the exercise.
She was also one of the first group of practitioners who went to Beijing to validate Dafa and was detained in the detention center. At the center, she insisted on practicing the exercise daily and was confined in a solitary compartment. (1) She was forced to continuously walk back and forth in the prison cell while her wrists and ankles were shackled together. After a month of illegal detainment, she was unconditionally released. She came to visit me and told me of her experience, how she practiced the exercise at Tiananmen Square, and how the vicious police seized practitioners. She told us that when she was escorted back home from Beijing by the police, and when she stepped off the train, "There were many leaders from the work unit, policemen from the detention center and many relatives had come and stood at both sides of the entrance. People who did not know the true situation might have mistaken it as a welcome party for an important person. Later they brought me to a bus, and a few small cars were at the front and back. What a scene!" She did not show any resentment for being detained, tortured, or shackled. There was no complaint or regret in her expression or voice. She hoped more practitioners would go with her to Beijing to appeal. I was very moved by her firm belief in Teacher and Dafa, as well as her righteous action of validating Dafa under the intense pressure. My tears came down unknowingly. Guofang's delightful laughter still lingers in my heart.
I remember that she went to Beijing numerous times to validate Dafa. One time, she and a practitioner went to the square in front of the People's Grand Hall, and unfurled a banner that read "Falun Dafa Is Good" to many representatives who were walking out of the building. Later they went to Tiananmen Square, unfurled a banner and from the bottom of their heart, and shouted, "Restore the reputation of our Teacher and Dafa!" Afterwards, they returned home safely.
I remember her promoting Dafa, clarifying the truth, and distributing flyers every day to save everyone that she came across.
I remember she tried to save the people in her hometown by bringing back many truth clarification materials.

1. Solitary Compartment: "Being confined in a solitary compartment" refers to locking up a single detainee in a solitary cell, which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used both for face washing and relieving the urine and bowels. One end of the handcuffs fastens the wrist and the other end attaches to the door railing. The handcuffs can be fastened onto the door railing at three different heights. In the highest position, the detainee has to extend his/her arm upward. The middle position is at waist level. In the lowest position, the detainee can sit on the ground.
