Facts of the Persecution
-- Police officer Guo Weishan (male) from Yonghong District, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, along with other police officers, abducted, detained, and tortured Falun Dafa practitioners mentally and physically. Guo personally sent Mr. Hou Qiang, Ms. Men Xiaohua (wife of Hou Qiang), and Ms. Wu Xuzhu, all of whom are all Falun Dafa practitioners, to a detention center on October 22, 2000. Police in Yonghong District sentenced the couple to a labor camp. Ms. Men was tortured to the point of her life being in danger. Later she was returned home, and was in such bad condition from the torture that she died six months later. Mr. Hou is still in the labor camp. Guo is the person responsible for these atrocities.
-- On the evening of April 9, 2002 several police officers from the Changhong Substation in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province pounded on the door of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Cai Rong's home. Ms. Cai's family refused to open the door, so these police officers hid outside all night. They stormed into her house the next morning, arrested her, and took her to the Jiamusi Labor Camp. She is now often tortured with "Carrying a Sword in the Back." While visiting, her family could see that was injured and very thin. She needs others to help her walk, and her legs are not functioning well due to the torture. ["Carrying a Sword in the Back" is when a practitioner's hands are tied behind his back with one hand over the shoulder and the other hand against the lower back. The police then apply a great deal of force to pull the two hands toward one another and handcuff the two hands together.]
-- My name is Jiang Jiquan. I am a 73-year-old man, and a Falun Dafa practitioner. I live in Taolaizhao Town, Fuyu County, Jilin Province. I used to be a cancer patient, and after practicing Falun Dafa my cancer was cured without any medical treatment. Just because I refused to write a guarantee letter and give up practicing, police arrested me and brought me to a labor camp. Because of all the torture I received there, I had difficulty walking and urinary incontinence.
-- My name is Chen Ping. My husband and I are both Falun Dafa practitioners in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province. In the past several years the police have broken my family apart three times by detaining us. On lunar calendar date January 5, 2003 police abducted me from my home. They whipped my face while grabbing my hair, and beat me until I almost passed out. They also shocked me with an electric baton, detained me for 80 days, sentenced me to three years of labor camp, and then sent me to the Jiamusi Labor Camp.
-- On January 18, 2004, Mr. Zhu Zhouxiang, a Falun Dafa practitioner and employee of the Utility Department of the Huaitie Company in Hunan Province, was abducted by railroad police. Without following any of the proper legal procedures they detained Mr. Zhu in the Railroad Detention Center.
-- Police in the Yantai City Detention Center brutally tortured Falun Dafa practitioners. Practitioners Ms. Sun Yan and Ms. Sui Chengxiang were hung in the air by their cuffed hands. Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Wei Xingang was beaten by police until his face was battered and covered with dark bruises. Practitioner Mr. Sun Hui was left in the freezing cold without clothes for two nights.
-- On December 19, 2003 two police officers from Zhengyang Substation, Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang Province stormed into Mr. Zhang Tianwei's home, abducted Mr. Zhang Tianwei, a Falun Dafa practitioner, and his guest Mr. Zhang Wentao, and sent them to a detention center. Mr. Zhang Tianwei went on hunger strike to protest. The police tried to extort money from their families. They wanted 10,000 Yuan from Zhang Tianwei's family, and 3,000 Yuan from Mr. Zhang Wentao's family. Later, after both families pleaded with police, and after Zhang Tianwei's family paid 5,000 Yuan and Zhang Wentao's family paid 1,000 Yuan, they were released. [Yuan is the Chinese currency; the average monthly income for an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan]
