Facts of the Persecution

On June 3, 2004, the Luyuan Court of Changchun City sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Zhu Danfei to 10 years in prison. At the trial only one family member was allowed in the courtroom. Ms. Zhu's father was present, and he was handcuffed. In the courtroom it was easy to observe that Ms. Zhu's front teeth had been broken. The lawyer hired by Ms. Zhu's family for thousands of yuan didn't defend Ms. Zhu at all, and even condemned her for opposing the government and not following government regulations. The persons involved in persecuting Ms. Zhu included Wang Liwen and Wang Hua from the 4^th National Security Brigade of the Changchun City Police Department.

On September 9, 2004, the Political and Judiciary Committee of Xingyang City in Henan Province held their fifth brainwashing class in the Xingyang Communist Party School. Practitioners abducted to the brainwashing session included Wang Aixian, Zhang Aimei, Ding Mingying from Guangwu Township, Wang Shouren from Qiaolou Township, Li Qiaoyun from Gaocun Township, an unknown practitioner from Sishui Township, and another practitioner whose last name was Song. Now is the busy harvest season in the countryside. The officials tricked the practitioners into coming to the brainwashing classes, then threatened that if they didn't transform they would be sent to a forced labor camp. Meanwhile, corrupt officials extorted money from the practitioners' relatives.

In Zibo City's Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province, practitioners had an unbelievably heavy workload. The materials that they worked with were toxic and banned by the government. The guards cruelly tortured the practitioners. Practitioners Xiao Lingfang, Zhang Long and Yang Xinggang were shocked with electric batons and tortured with "Locking-Up in a Small Cell" (1) until they became mentally disorientated. Two practitioners, Zhang Guohua and Xiao Beifeng, were tortured to death.

Ms. Zhang Xiuqin is a 50-year-old practitioner from Dongshimafen Village in Liujiayao Town, Anqiu City, Shandong Province. Ms. Zhang started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. After the persecution started, she was abducted a couple of times. In September 2002 she was illegally sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. She is still being detained at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Her two daughters were also abducted.

At 8 a.m. on July 20, 1999, the Hanting District Political and Judiciary Committee and "610 Office" directed the abduction of Falun Gong practitioners. The police department cooperated with this action. They secretly abducted the Falun Dafa assistants at different practice sites. The abducted practitioners included Wei Guilong, Qi Liang, Li Shulin, Wang Yingchen, Yang Mingzhen, Chen Weiguang, and Sui Hongchang. The practitioners were transferred to a township far away. They were detained and interrogated for over 11 days.

Notes:

1) Locking up in a Small Cell: The detainee is locked up alone in a very small cell. The guards handcuff practitioners with their hands behind their backs in a fixed position in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunlight comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to the detainees. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
