[Clearwisdom.net] Xinhua New Agency [note: the Chinese state run media and governmental mouthpiece] published an article on January 4, 2001 in which it admitted that "from the last day of the 20th century to the first day of the new century, hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners gathered to Tiananmen Square" and "since last National Day [October 1, 2000], the protest of Falun Gong practitioners has never stopped and in fact it has intensified recently after a period of recession."

These words clearly suggest that the XX Party [note: As Falun Gong is has no political objective we do not highlight the party name] is no longer able to paint itself but to admit the failure of its vicious crackdown on Falun Gong since 1999. Numerous Falun Gong practitioners stepping forward wave after wave to protest the brutal persecution has become the undisputable fact. Their extraordinary deeds of safeguarding the Buddha Law have won the attention and sympathy of all just and kind-hearted people around the world.

The article claims that the founder of Falun Gong mentioned "the end of the world" in his lectures at two recent conferences. To those who know the truth, this is a completely groundless fabrication. From this rumor, one can see how shameless the propaganda machine of the XX party is.

The editorial also said, " The web sites set up by Falun Gong xx [Slanderous words against Dafa respectfully omitted] overseas deliberately spread rumor that the Chinese government would arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale on New Year's Eve of 2001. In addition, they also instigated Falun Gong fanatics to 'step forward' to go to Beijing and other places to make trouble." However, people who knew the inside story are clear that the public security departments of XX party have plotted several times to suppress Falun Gong on a large scale but all their attempts were exposed before they even had a chance to take actions. Apparently, XX party is trying to shirk its responsibility to innocent people.

This article unintentionally disclosed some facts, which helped people who are denied access to the truth of Falun Gong due to the news blockage of XX party to gain some insight of the whole story. Looking behind the words, readers will know that in China there are people who are fighting for the freedom of their beliefs without fear and that all kind-hearted people both inside and outside China are trying to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Just as an upright person in the America said, "From Falun Gong practitioners' unyielding and courageous protests, we see the hope of China."

The XX party has committed terrible crimes against its own people and eventually will have to face responsibility for its actions. This article unknowingly revealed to people the solemn struggle of Falun Gong practitioners that is taking place in China. There is no doubt that this article will inspire Falun Gong practitioners' determination, confidence and unprecedented courage. They may hold another round of activities to validate Dafa [great law and principles of the universe] and protest against the Chinese Government's crackdown on Falun Gong during the Spring Festival, which perhaps is unexpected by the author of this article and XX party. Desperate, as it is, XX party is putting up a last-ditch struggle. However, it cannot escape its responsibility for its actions in the end.

In this "lengthy article", those people in charge of the persecution unknowingly disclose their own evilness. This article portrays the "leaders of the country" and "policemen on duty" as pitiful lambs stating that: "Some of them [Falun Gong practitioners] pestered and beat policemen", "rushed over to beat and injured the policemen" and "spread rumors, slandered and defamed leaders of the country." It is really ridiculous. How could barehanded "Falun Gong" [practitioners] injure policemen who held electric batons and rubber clubs? Perhaps the police hurt themselves while beating Falun Gong practitioners with too much strength? What makes it even laughable is that the leaders of the country who have the full discretion to control all the media seem to be scared by "Falun Gong" that has no political power at all. How could it be possible that "Falun Gong" slanders the leaders of the country?

In addition, this article claims to be "the first open report by the official media on Falun Gong members' trouble-making in Tiananmen Square on New Year's Day and at the first anniversary of Macao's return at the end of last year." This is saying that the authority is more open now. Don't you see the government is revealing to its citizens that the suppression ended up with a failure and the protest of Falun Gong practitioners is still going on? However, if the government were really to increase its transparency, it should have the guts to expose the fact that tens of thousands Falun Gong practitioners have suffered brutal tortures and more than one hundred of them have died in police custody. Dare they divulge the ferocious nature of the perpetrators in various levels of governments?

The government claims that "China is now in the best era of human rights in history" If this is the case, the media should certainly be highly transparent. However, this editorial made full use of exaggeration and derogatory words, such as "making trouble", "stir up turmoil" etc., which are quite frightening. Any rational person would know this trick is called "threat" and what is behind "threat" is conspiracy! Take this sentence as an example, "Any behavior that disregards the constitution and the law and that deliberately disrupts social order will definitely be punished by the law." One would imagine how "righteous and strict" this announcement is! However, the facts sharply contrast with it. There are people who were thrown into jails simply because they exercised their rights as citizens to appeal to the government; there was Ms. Chen Zixiu who died of brutal beating by the so-called "people's police" and "government officials of the people"; there are people whose homes were broken into and ransacked by the heads of villages and towns who tried to force them to give up practicing Falun Gong...When all these happened, who was "disregarding the constitution and the law"?! It is apparent that the so-called "constitution and law" is no different than a piece of paper on which Jiang Zemin can draw anything he likes.

This editorial mentioned several times the so-called "some western anti-China forces" and "hostile forces" that are said to either financially supply Falun Gong or morally support it. Then please allow me to ask a couple of questions: How can President Jiang have so many "hostile forces"? Why do all these hostile forces stand by Falun Gong?

"A just cause enjoys abundant support while an unjust cause loses support." This is an old saying from the ancient times. From this lengthy editorial, I can't see there is any country or region in the world restricting Falun Gong except Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore that have special relations with President Jiang. In my opinion, we can say that there is no constraint on Falun Gong, without loss of generality.

The editorial also said, "some countries and organizations provided Falun Gong with operating funds via a so-called 'Asia Democratic Foundation'. They help Falun Gong set up 'Falun Dafa Radio Station', establish websites, rent radio channels and print Dafa promoting materials. A profitable TV center is also set up and a new plan is under way, attempting to distribute Falun Gong materials in the form of CDs and software discs instead of printed copies. Some governmental departments of a certain country even make clear statement that they would put more resources to support Falun Gong, provide special communication network and guarantee Li Hongzhi's safety both at home and on trip." It can be seen that Falun Gong is really popular overseas. Except this editorial, there is no report found regarding any incident happening overseas that goes against Falun Gong from the media of the Mainland China. Therefore, it's evident who is "enjoying abundant support", and who "is losing support of people". All these perhaps are out of President Jiang Zemin's expectation.

From this awkward "lengthy article", we not only see the evilness, but also sense the sheer desperation shown by the those in charge of the persecution when they couldn't get their way. After all, it is closer to the end of the story.
