[Sichuan Province] Practitioners Zhuang Jian, Chen Tuoyu and Yu Yufang Were Sentenced
At around 8:30am on July 5, in the People's Court of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, the trial for practitioners Zhuang Jian, Chen Tuoyu and Xu Yufang opened. At the end, Zhuang Jian was given four years of imprisonment, Chen Tuoyu three and half years and Yu Yufang three years, on the account of so-called "organizing evil religion to obstruct the implementation of law".
All was just a show trial because only a dozen people could audit the trial. About one to two hundred practitioners waited outside the courtroom while none of them were allowed to attend. The door of the Courtroom was tightly closed, and guarded by a dozen armed police. Outside, there were plenty of plainclothes agents who were secretly recording the practitioners.
[Beijing] Practitioner Mr. Li Baoqing, a Researcher from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Was Missing Again
Practitioner Mr. Li Baoqing, a researcher from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a tutor for PhD candidates, is a well-known specialist of water conservancy. His wife, practitioner Ms. Liu Jinghang, was also an associate researcher from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They were expelled from the Party because they refused to give up Falun Gong. They had been detained for the same reason afterwards.
In the evening of January 13 of 2000, the police from the Haiding District suddenly broke into their home, and ransacked their home without any legal paper work and took Ms. Liu Jinghang away. Her whereabouts has been unknown since then for almost half a year. When Mr. Li Baoqing went to the police station to get the apartment keys from his wife he was also detained for 35 days.
After his release, he had been busy tutoring his students. However, around June 25, Mr. Li Baoqing was missing again.
[Wuhan, Hubei Province] Practitioner Suffered Torture of the "crucifix"
The police department of Wuhan created a unique torture device to persecute detained practitioners. They fixed the practitioners to a board in the form of a crucifix after stripping them off and made their bottoms face a hole on the board for excretion.
Practitioner Ms. Tian Shasha, 26 years old, was detained last November for going to Beijing to report the truth of Falun Gong to the central government. She was transferred to Hankou Police Station after 15 days of administrative detention. Last December, she was found still practicing Falun Gong in the Police Station and was thus sent to the City Women Detention Center directly without any legal procedure except for the verbal commands from the Municipal Committee and the Committee of Politics and Law. She had been then tortured using the "crucifix" method for over 30 days. It was cold winter then. She had only a thin comforter covering her privacy parts. Her family members were prohibited to visit her during that period. When she had her menstruation, the guard used only cold water to clean her. Because of uncleanness, it started to smell in a few days. The smell became stronger and stronger as time went by. The guards then became frightened and requested the director of the police station to stop torturing her.
Ms. Tian Shasha had undergone the unimaginable torture with a great benevolent and forbearing heart. Later she told her mother who came to visit her that she became even more enlightened to the greatness of Falun Dafa after after 30 days.
This March, Ms. Tian Shasha was transferred to the Hewan Labor Camp of Wuhan City and continued to suffer more inhumane tortures such as being put into confinement, being burnt while being hung up etc. She has been monitored by 4 criminals 24 hours up to now. According to the news sources, over 30 practitioners are being detained in the Hewan Labor Camp.
[Sichuan Province] Persecution in Cities of Pengzhou, Guanghan and Qingbaijiang
Pengzhou City:
The local government officials abused their power to detain practitioners at will in order to gain political capital and money. Some officials even openly announced that they could torture Falun Gong practitioners at will according to the direction from the provincial and central government, and if there was a death because of torture, all the punishment they face was merely a few hundred Yuan deduction in salary. Therefore, the local police hired some local thugs to persecute practitioners at will.
Almost all practitioners had been imposed fines from several thousand to twenty thousand Yuan. In a village alone, a total of several hundred thousand Yuan had been demanded from the practitioners.
Moreover, practitioners continued to be beaten up. Most of the village officials had participated in beating up practitioners. They even made a local policy that every person could get a bonus of 50 Yuan to 200 Yuan by beating up practitioners. For example, a practitioner had been detained in a room. A total of 25 people started to beat her up after they turned off the light. The practitioner's face was beaten to swell like a washbasin and furthermore, she was then handcuffed and shackled afterwards. A practitioner was beaten up to lose consciousness on the spot for not being able to afford the so-called escorting fee 2,000 Yuan. Those determined practitioners got detained or sent to labor camps. Some practitioners had been detained in the local village government for over 50 days.
Guangxing Town Police Station, Guanghan City:
The police station of Guangxing Town had taken many practitioners away from the home on June 28 and June 29. At 8am of June 30, several dozens of practitioners got arrested when exchanging experiences in a public area and then they were beaten up including aged practitioners in their 80s. The detained practitioners had suffered the following inhumane mistreatments.
1, Long exposure under the Sun
Those practitioners who had not been beaten up were confined under the harsh sun from morning to evening. They were denied of water and food, and were not allowed to use the toilet either. A practitioner in her 60s fainted and continued to be exposed to the sun after regaining her consciousness. A female practitioner was on her period. However, she was not allowed to use any paper nor the napkins. A fellow practitioner outside tried to deliver some napkins to her, but was also detained.
2, Suffocation by water
On the afternoon of June 30, the police took several practitioners to the pool in a restroom and then pressed their heads down to the water for long time. Some of them lost consciousness afterwards, but the police continued to press their heads down under the water after they regained their consciousness.
3, Beating by bamboo sticks
The police used the bamboo sticks to beat practitioners. Male practitioners were beaten up naked. Female practitioners were beaten up with only underwear.
4, Mosquitoes torture
At night, all practitioners, regardless of ages, were handcuffed together and forced to stand outside to be bitten by the mosquitoes. Male practitioners could only have their underwear on.
5, Personal Properties being robbed and destroyed
The police would rob all things including cash and electrical instruments from the practitioners' homes that they could take away with them. Meanwhile, they would destroy all those things that they could not take away with them.
6, Being Imposed Stiff Fines
Practitioners must pay the demanded amount of money in order to get released from the police station.
The practitioners are in poor conditions. In order not to add more sufferings on them, we have to omit their names here.

Dawan Police Station of Qingbaijiang:
At around 10am of June 29, four practitioners from the Chemical Plant of Sichuan attempted to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Workers from their family intercepted them as soon as they arrived at the local train station. They were sent to Dawan Police Station in the afternoon and then transferred to the Qingbaijiang Detention Center at night. Up to now, they have been on hunger strike, abstaining from both food and water. They decided to defend Falun Dafa with their lives, and to protest the illegal deeds by the police against Falun Dafa practitioners.
