On July 1, more than a dozen practitioners went to Black Mountain Park to attend the gathering of fellow residents and alumni (overseas Chinese, from a local area of China, get together in the US). We brought the booklets "Falun Gong: the Real Story" and "Undertaking Unjust Tribulations, Calling for Justice and Kind Conscience", to tell overseas Chinese the truth about Falun Gong.
I went to the reunion. At first I thought that because everyone was eating and I don't know anybody, others would feel strange if I got up suddenly to distribute the information material. Since the righteous thought in my mind had not come out, I could only, at that moment, sit and chat with others. While I was at a loss for how to bring up the topic of Falun Gong, the truth and the persecution, someone distributed a pile of advertisements table-by-table and person-by-person. I could not help but feel ashamed, watching what an everyday person could do, as a Falun Gong practitioner, why couldn't I do it in an open and above board manner? When I told a practitioner my initial thought later, she said: "What was the purpose of us coming here? What we need to do is tell the people that Falun Gong is the best, and is the righteous Fa and the righteous way. To let the people know the truth is to do something good for them.
At that moment, an alumnus with a child came over to read the Falun Gong material that I had brought in. She asked me, "Do you practice Falun Gong?" "Yes", I answered. Another alumnus said: "Give me a copy, a classmate of mine has been arrested and sent to jail." I realized that it was Teacher who was asking me to act. I started to distribute the material table-by-table, person-by-person.
When I handed "Falun Gong: the Real Story" to a young man, he asked, "Does it oppose or acclaim Falun Gong?" It acclaims." Then give me a copy. He immediately started to read and discuss it with friends next to him.
Someone told me, I admire the Falun Gong practitioners.
When I introduced Falun Gong to a lady, she said to her friend: "Falun Gong is capable of doing lots of things, you can find practitioners in all kinds of activities." She then asked me: "Each of the young girls over there is holding a pile of material, does someone hire you to do this?" I told her, "We are all volunteers. My own experience is that Falun Gong is a good practice. I hope that not only my relatives, but also more good people come to practice Falun Gong.
Another one said: "I will go back China. I dare not read your stuff; if I did, I couldn't go back." It is clear how intensely the Chinese government is suppressing Falun Gong, that some were too frightened to have the courage to discover the truth.
Another practitioner was asked: "Do you still go to work?" She said, I not only work but also do my job remarkably well; I even got a $750 bonus from my supervisor yesterday.
I think, with the intensified suppression of Falun Gong by the Chinese government, with the indomitable peaceful appeals of the practitioners in China and with overseas practitioners' constantly spreading the Fa, all the overseas Chinese have heard there is Falun Gong going on in the world. Their attitudes are undergoing subtle changes; they have wanted to know more about Falun Gong and have many questions in their minds. Thus, overseas practitioners should step forward to tell people the truth about Falun Gong with the benefits we have received, use indisputable facts to tell people the persecution the practitioners in China have suffered and awaken people's kind nature.
