[Chongqing City, Sichuan Province] Hu Mingquan Dies from Torture by Police from Hebei Province
Hu Mingquan, male, 63 years old, was a retiree from Chongqing Jiangbei District Third Steel Plant.
He went to Beijing to appeal to the central government on December 1, 2000. On the 7th, the Hebei Province police notified his family that they should claim his body at the Huaide County Hospital of Hebei Province. When Hu's son asked about the cause of death, the doctor claimed it was high blood pressure. The son told the doctor that his father had never had any illness. Later, someone who had inside information told the son that Hu died from suffocation when the police force-fed him through the nose.

[Southwestern China] Practitioners Courageously Tell Truth about Falun Dafa
1). During Zeng Qinghong's visit to a city in southwestern China on December 9, 2000, a group of practitioners were busy for the whole night along the only road which runs from the airport to downtown of that city. They spray painted messages about Falun Dafa on several places along the roadside, as well as on more than twenty overpasses and side roads. They also put up over four hundred posters. Their brave action effectively weakened the rampant attack by the government's evil forces on Falun Dafa.
2). More recently, several practitioners of this city hung up Falun Dafa banners and flyers on electricity posts along the city's major road along a 100 kilometers span, which inspired and encouraged other practitioners.
3). In early November, a few practitioners of this city entered a college during the night, and placed over 100 computer diskettes in classrooms and the faculty residential area. The diskettes contain information on the truth about Falun Dafa.
[Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Practitioners Are Arrested at a Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference
On the afternoon of December 19, 2000, more than 100 practitioners in Shenzhen City held a cultivation experience sharing conference at Kaiyuan Building located in Futian Meilin. Unfortunately, the information was leaked to the police, who immediately surrounded the building. All the participants were arrested, among whom are women over 80 years old. It is said that there were six police vehicles for transporting the arrested practitioners, and each vehicle was crowded with over a dozen practitioners.
[Beijing] Police Search for Practitioners on the Buses in the Suburbs
Beijing police conducted a search for practitioners on the buses in the suburbs. The police required all passengers to produce their ID, and they kept cursing Falun Dafa and Teacher Li. Passengers who did not have ID on them were detained. This is during the so-called "best period of time for human rights in Chinese history."
[Mainland China] A Female Practitioner Goes to Tiananmen Square Again after a 118-Day Hunger Strike in Jail
A young female practitioner in China successfully escaped from prison after holding a hunger strike for 118 days. Her success once again proved to the people how miraculous Falun Dafa is. Despite her feeble health, she went to Tiananmen Square again after only a few days of rest. Her action inspired many practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal for the first time. It is reported that this practitioner was again arrested at the Square, but was released on the same day.
[Beijing] Shihua Hotel of Chaoyang District Is the Cavern for Torturing Practitioners
Shihua Hotel, located on 14 Xibahe Jie Dong Li, Chaoyang District, is a dungeon for torturing practitioners. A few people stationed at the hotel were sent by Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of National Security to deal specifically with the Falun Dafa practitioners. Practitioners who have escaped from that hotel have said that many of the missing practitioners from Beijing are actually detained there.
[Beijing] Teacher from the China National Conservatory is Sent to the Tuanhe Labor Camp
Zhai Shequan, is a male Falun Dafa practitioner who graduated with a Master's degree from Department of Vocal Music, China National Conservatory. Zhai went to Tiananmen to practice on New Year's Eve, and was detained in Chaoyang Detention Center for about a month. He went to Beijing's Tiantanghe Labor Camp to report the truth about Falun Dafa and its practitioners in June, and was thereafter arrested and detained for several days in the detention facility in Daxing County. Police again arrested him on September 24, 2000 on his way to his hometown in Henan Province. He was detained in Chaoyang Detention Center without any legal proceedings against him. He has been on a hunger strike for more than 20 days. His fellow professors, students at the Conservatory, and his colleagues who knew the detailed information, all became very angry at his unlawful arrest by the police.
Some information from the detention facility says that Zhai was delivered to the Tuanhe Labor Camp on November 9, 2000.
[Beijing] Liu Zili, Practitioner from the China National Non-metallic Materials Import & Export Corporation, Is Sent to the Tuanhe Labor Camp
Li Zili, a Falun Gong practitioner who also holds a Master's degree, used to work for the China National Non-metallic Materials Import & Export Corporation. The Haidian Branch Bureau of the Beijing Police Department imprisoned him for 35 days in early September last year for wearing a Falun pin while on the Tiananmen Tower. After Falun Dafa was labeled an XX (perjorative word), Liu Zili went to Tiananmen to practice at the end of October last year, and was again detained for more than 30 days by the Haidian Branch Bureau. In December, he was again held for over a month by the same branch for sharing experiences with fellow practitioners at his home. He spent another 30 days of detention in the middle of April this year at the same police branch for going to State Council's Citizen Complaint Processing Bureau to file a complaint with his wife and daughter. On July 11, 2000, he went to Beijing's Tiantanghe Labor Camp to report the truth about Falun Dafa and its practitioners, and was detained by Daxing County for two weeks. He tried again to tell the truth about Falun Dafa to the neighborhood committee and police branch office in his residence in middle of July. The police from the branch office at the Yuxin Elementary School tricked him out of his home and imprisoned him in Haidian Brach Bureau. It is said that Li Zili has been transported on August 18 to a labor camp at Tuanhe, Beijing. The policy of the camp is to disallow family visits to practitioners who are firm in their belief in Falun Dafa. Therefore, Liu's wife has not been permitted to visit him in the Camp.
From what we know, Hao Li, wife of Mr. Liu Zili, works at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and several hundred yuan was deducted from her monthly salary because she continually practiced Falun Dafa. She has a daughter currently attending elementary school.
[Chongqing Area, Sichuan Province] A Practitioner Is Arrested for Printing Dafa Flyers in a Village.
1). In the afternoon of October 26, 2000, Pu Zhangzhi, a 50-year-old doctor of herbal medicine, was arrested on the street, where he sells his medicine, by the local police. The police searched his home three times, and confiscated a mimeograph machine (an old styled copying device), several stencils with Dafa information, and more than 1,000 printed Dafa flyers. Law enforcement did not believe that a farmer as poor as Pu Zhangzhi was able to make the stencils on wax paper, and to print with oil ink, etc.
After being detained for 15 days, Pu Zhangzhi was officially charged by the prosecutor and sent to court for further proceedings. Pu has an old father at home who has no one taking care of him.
2). On March 3, 2000, Chen Dafu, the Deputy of the Lianglu Police Branch, led a group of police to break into the farmhouse of practitioner XXX and his wife. They arrested the couple and searched the home. The police detained the couple for more than 10 hours. Again on July 13, the police forced the couple to attend a "class" to be reformed through study lasting for more than two weeks. During this time the couple were forced to pay 1,200 yuans (about $140) for living expenses, with another 4,000 yuans (about $470), a fee that practitioners are forced to pay for "guaranteeing that they won't practice again." More than 10 practitioners were in the same situation where they were forced to pay living expenses and guarantee money. They were also forced to write a guarantee paper, and to defame Falun Dafa. The police also refused to permit them to sleep during the "class."
3). Information on Practitioners from Yubei District Who Were Sent to Labor Camp:
Wang Aihua, female, about 40 years old, was employed by a petroleum drilling company, and vice assistant at the Yubei District Assistance Center. She was sentenced to 3 years in a labor camp for appealing;
Zheng Yongsheng, female, about 50 years old, was a worker from Construction Brigade in XinjiangAutonomous Region, and came back to Yubei for resettlement. She wassentenced to1 year in a labor camp for practicing Falun Gong openly.Square in May, 2000;
Bai Suying, female, about 50 years old. Three years were added to Bai's existing prisonterm for practicing Falun Gong in jail;
Chen Changying, female, about 40 years old. Chen has family members working for thepetroleum drilling company, and was sentenced for one year in a labor camp forwriting letters to the government to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong;
Wang Xiaoxia, female, about 30 years old, was sentenced to one year in labor camp for appealing and practicing in Lumeng Square in May, 2000. Her term was prolonged for another year for practicing in the camp;
Huang Enju, female, about 40 years old, who has family members working for thepetroleum drilling company, was sentenced to one-year labor camp forwriting letters to the government to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong;
He Youli, male, in his twenties, who wrote letters to the government and wasarrested because the police verified that it was his handwriting. For notgiving up names of fellow-practitioners, he was tortured while in detention,and was named by the police to be the firmest believer in Falun Gong. His caseis now sent to trial at the court.
He Xiurong, female, is on trial for writing appeal letters to government.
Bai Shikai, male, in his fifties, a small business owner selling tofu at LuoqiTownship. Bai was arrested for appealing to the governments and iscurrently detained in a prison in Yubei;
Li Zelan, female, is more than 50 years old, and Zhang Fen, also female, about 40 years old. They are being detained for appealing to thegovernment on behalf of Falun Gong.
[Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province] Zhuhai City Unlawfully Detains Practitioners during the One-Year Anniversary of Macao's Return to China
Zhuhai City, fearing that practitioners would stand up and tell the truth about Falun Dafa during the celebration activities of the one-year anniversary of Macao's return to China (attended by Jiang Zemin), deployed a large police force to detain more than 40 Falun Gong practitioners on the evening of December 14, 2000. The police met with popular resistance for the unlawful arrest, so they employed violence, intimidation, and deception to terrorize the whole city. The detained practitioners were mostly senior citizens and women, and they were imprisoned for as long as seven days, until December 22 when they were finally released.
[Guangdong Province] The Group for "Reformation, Guidance, Assistance, and Education" Attempts to Sabotage Practitioners' Cultivation
Recently, a few former practitioners who were "reformed" by the Guangdong Sanshui Labor Camp formed a so-called a "Group for Reformation, Guidance, Assistance and Education" and traveled to various regions of Guangdong Province in the attempt to sabotage the cultivation of the practitioners.
[Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Liu Xiaoyan Is Arrested while Disseminating Materials on Truth about Falun Dafa
Liu Xiaoyan is a female practitioner from Anqiu City. She was arrested on the afternoon of December 21, 2000 while disseminating materials on the truth about Falun Dafa in a village of Danshan Township.
The communist party committee and the police precinct of Zhaoge Township, Anqiu city had suspected that there were practitioners disseminating Dafa materials in its jurisdiction. Therefore, they recently started arresting practitioners in all villages. When the police were told that someone had spotted a person disseminating Dafa materials in a village in the afternoon of December 21, 2000, they started to arrest all suspects in that village. They were so mad that they even confiscated a new motorcycle parked in the village because they suspected that the motorcycle belonged to practitioners and was used for disseminating Falun Dafa flyers. The officers' unreasonable conduct gave rise to complaints from the village residents. The practitioners who disseminated the flyers safely returned home under the protection of the villagers .

[Cheng'an County, Hebei Province] Expose the Evil People, and Spread Dafa
Li Zhide, Chief of the Police Bureau of Cheng'an County of Hebei Province, is closely following Jiang Zemin's policy, and indefinitely detaining Falun Dafa practitioners. He ignores the laws of this country, and takes advantage of the practititoners' family members, who desire to see the detained practitioners, demanding presents, dinner, and cash from them amounting to 367,000 yuans (about $42,675.00) and levies all sorts of charges not supported by the law against the practitioners. Li Zhide not only personally abuses the detained practitioners, he also parades the practitioners through the streets with a board full of abusive words hanging from practitioners' necks. He recommended to his superiors that a group of practitioners be sent to a labor camp, but they were returned to him. However, he refiled the list of names again, which resulted in labor camp sentences for two of these practitioners.
