Little Strokes Fell Large Oaks

Absent from the dinner sponsored by the PRC Embassy

Recently, a lady, who is somewhat famous in the local Chinese community, was invited to a dinner sponsored by the Chinese Embassy. However, on the day of the dinner, nobody could find her. Later, a friend asked her where she had been that day, and she replied: "I was actually outside the Embassy sitting in meditation together with other Falun Gong practitioners appealing peacefully to the Chinese government." Hearing this, her friend was a bit touched and emotional and said: "The officers of the Embassy are at their wits' end dealing with Falun Gong. They cannot do anything with Falun Gong practitioners because their appeal is so peaceful -- no wrangling, no tossing eggs, or no shouting slogans..."

Predestined people came from afar

Two westerners went to the park in front of the Chinese embassy and were learning the hand gestures of the fifth exercise. Upon talking to them, we realized that they were from New York and had driven 4 hours to reach the practice site in front of the embassy. Six months ago, they had downloaded Falun Dafa books from the Internet and had started practicing on their own by following the books. Recently, in searching the Internet, they found out that there is a practice site in front of the embassy and especially went there to look for it. They were later joined by another westerner.

Later, a car with Chinese passengers arrived. The passengers got out of the car and were moved to see such a large and peaceful group of Falun Gong practitioners in the park. This is totally different from what the Chinese government has said about Falun Gong. When approached by our practitioners, these Chinese people gladly accepted the Dafa materials; normally they did not dare accept these materials. Our practitioners then briefed them about the true current situation and the widespread dissemination of Falun Dafa around the world. They nodded in assent.

As for the westerners, after they finished learning the exercises, the young girl asked us to wait for her a second. She returned and distributed her business cards to each practitioner and said she was truly very happy that day, indescribably happy. When it was time to depart, she embraced each of us to say good-bye.

"That side is so dirty, this side is so clean"

On September 30, 2000, a Chinese culture show was held in a park in front of the White House. On one side was the booth for the culture show where Ambassador Li gave a speech. On the other side Falun Gong practitioners were practicing the Falun Gong exercises. The next day, an African American man was cleaning the site and he murmured while working. We heard him saying: "The other side is so dirty (the Culture show's side); this side is so clean (the Falun Gong practitioners' side)."

"With this kind of spirit, anything can be done"

A Chinese man who looked like a Chinese government officer, stepped out of a large car and walked into the embassy. A practitioner went toward him and handed him Dafa materials, which introduces the truth of Falun Gong. The official took a step back and blocked his face with his hands, stammering: "You, you, should not come over. You, you're over the line." The practitioner answered: "Where is the line? It is your heart that has drawn a line."

Another Chinese man who also looked like a Chinese government officer walked towards the car. A practitioner then handed Dafa materials to him and got no response. The practitioner told him the truth of Falun Dafa and got no response again. He boarded the vehicle immediately without saying one word. Then, once inside, he held up his thumbs and commented to us positively: "With this kind of spirit, anything can be done."

A policeman blocked the car and asked for a yellow T-shirt

On Sunday, after finishing our activities, a practitioner wanted to leave and got into his car. At that moment, a police car arrived and blocked the road. The practitioner was surprised because he did not know the reason. The policeman then asked the practitioner if he could have a yellow T-shirt! The practitioner replied: "No problem, but the only T-shirt I have is the one I'm wearing." The policeman replied: "That's OK, that doesn't matter at all." The practitioner took off his own T-shirt and gave it to the policeman. The policeman was very happy and said in Chinese repeatedly: "Thank you." He drove off in satisfaction.

"Why should I put it in my pocket?"

A practitioner explained the truth of Falun Gong to a group of tourists, but some people did not understand. Afterwards, he noticed a Chinese old lady who was silently listening to him all along. Thinking that she would like to accept the material but might have concerns, the practitioner folded the Dafa materials and handed them to her: "You can put them in your pocket." (That means to hide it and avoid trouble). The old lady accepted the materials and said: "Why should I put it in my pocket?" She grasped the practitioner's hands: "Young man, thank you."
