[China] Relatives and good friends of practitioners begin to defend Dafa.
According to our teacher, "all people with righteous thoughts--and I'm not referring to our students--all everyday people with righteous thoughts are standing up against this {persecution}". The Fa rectification moves forward as more and more people change from simply showing sympathy for the suffering of Dafa practitioners to supporting Dafa and helping the practitioners of Dafa.
The following examples demonstrate this change in people's attitudes and actions:
1. When a practitioner showed evidence of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners to his colleague, the colleague asked to take the materials home to show his family. When he returned the materials, he said, "It is extremely cruel. They are too vicious. They are digging graves for themselves." He also told the practitioner, "I have made a copy. My wife wants to show them to her colleagues." He offered to help us print materials about explaining the true facts about the persecution against Falun Dafa.
2. After an elder practitioner received copies of Dafa materials, she handed them out to her son, daughter-in-law and daughter. After her children finished reading all these materials, not only did they help distribute and post the information, but also helped her to deliver these materials to other practitioners and used their own money to copy Dafa materia
3. After a friend of a practitioner read some Dafa material, he was aroused with righteous thoughts. He said, "Great articles. Give me more later." He wanted to collect articles about the teachings of Falun Gong. In addition, he requested to write an article expressing his own ideas on Dafa that would be posted on public websites.
4. Before attending his mother's birthday party, a colleague of a practitioner asked for the tape recording of "Falun Dafa Radio Stations Around World". She wanted to share the truth of Falun Dafa with her family and her mother.
5. A female practitioner's husband shows his support by helping her deliver Dafa materials. He always gives her rides and sometimes drives for her late into the evening.
6. A practitioner went to Tiananmen Square to protest Dafa and was arrested in July. During the time she was detained, her husband, who is not a practitioner, did a lot of work for Dafa including delivering and posting materials about the truth of Dafa since he realized Dafa's teachings are important and should be known by more people. He told his wife not to be scared. After the practitioner was detained again in early October, her husband helped a lot again by distributing Dafa materials.
7. When another practitioner was detained in early October, her husband, who is not a practitioner, contributed his efforts to Dafa by posting and distributing the materials of the truth of Dafa.
[Xinjiang Territory] The number of practitioners in some areas of Xinjiang set records in "appealing in Beijing" in the country.
Officials of many work units in some areas of Xinjiang were called together for an intensive training. They are asked to prevent Falun Gong practitioners from appealing in Beijing and distributing materials containing the truth of Falun Gong to the people.
Police are encouraged to ransack practitioners' homes and detain them. Plainclothes policemen often show up at the post office. The Public Security Bureau arranged for a computer specialist to inspect local Internet information to find out who was on the websites related to Falun Gong or communicating information about Falun Gong.
Even though local police and leaders have tried all means to suppress Falun Gong practitioners, they have not been completely effective. In this area, there were more than 30 practitioners appealing in Beijing and detained. Moreover, a lot of flyers have been circulated. Around November 3rd, plainclothes policemen detained two practitioners when they copied some materials on the truth of Falun Gong. But in this small area with a population of just about twelve thousand people, three records of "protesting Dafa" were set,
1. The oldest practitioner, who is more than 70, made the long journey to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Dafa practitioners.
2. Another practitioner rode his bicycle through 6 provinces, over several mountains and rivers and through deserts on the 3000 to 4000 kilometers' journey from Xinjiang to Beijing. When the practitioner was detained, everyone was amazed that he survived the trip through the lifeless "death region" and reached Beijing. The remarkable bicycle was left in the Beijing Tiananmen Police Station. According to the practitioner's experience, he was able to ride more than 100 kilometers everyday and the way ahead was displayed in front of him like a colorful road.
3. A practitioner who was very poor managed to raise enough money (2,000 Yuan) to fly to Beijing, from a region where the average local salary is about 400 Yuan per month. This monumental expense paid by the practitioner impressed the local people that Falun Gong practitioners are really suffering from a serious injustice to warrant the spending of such a large sum.
An excellent high school student Chen Lei (alias) went to appeal in Beijing after taking the university entrance examination in July. When she was detained, her score on the examination was also announced, which is 500 and much higher than the top university enrollment score. But because she cultivates Dafa firmly, she has been denied the right to go to a university.
[China] Policemen starting to understand the truth of Dafa
One day, a policeman told a practitioner, "You should not go outside tonight. There was a notice from the government that we have to inspect the street until 6 am tomorrow morning. You will be in trouble if you are detained." The practitioner passed the message to other Dafa practitioners. Actually, they had decided to put flyers up that night. The second morning, the policeman went to see the practitioner with a flyer "Jiang Zemin could not shirk the responsibility of history" and asked him, "Is this the flyer?" The practitioner nodded with smile. The police smiled and tore up of the flyer, "I have read it. I would not like to arrest people telling the truth. After seeing it, tearing it is okay."
Another policeman who was a religious man met a practitioner who had persuaded him to be compassionate. He told him, "I know I have done terrible things. I could not sleep or eat well after I interrogated you".
Our teacher has said, "By presenting the truth we've enabled them to know the facts and get rid of their previous views and evil thoughts, and it's very likely that they can be saved." All practitioners are happy to see that some policemen are regaining their righteous thoughts.
[Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Although monstrous crimes are being committed against Dafa practitioners at Masanjia labor education camp, the truth of Falun Dafa is spreading. At present, the true stories about Falun Dafa quoted from Minghui are springing up all over Shenyang city, and are known to every family.
[South of China] More and more practitioners are coming out in one city in the south of China.
1. Recently, more and more practitioners in a big city in southern China are actively telling the truth to the people of this area by using all means. Since all the materials were sent out in red envelopes, they look like the gifts. It is said that the police are reinforcing their efforts and trying to solve this case.
2. One night in November, in one big city in the southern China, after the Neighborhood Committee published some information on their neighborhood black board slandering Dafa, a banner of " Falun Dafa is good" appeared on the same neighborhood black board at night. Soon, the security on duty saw the banner and reported this to the police bureau. A large number of policemen was deployed, which has been the topic of conversation of many people in this city.
[Beijing] Chengguan town of Fangshan District beat 18 practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal.
On November 12, 2000, 18 practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. The town government detained them. Each practitioner was beaten up by two wicked persons at the same time. They used the electronic baton and slapped the faces of the practitioners. After the practitioners were knocked down by electronic shock, they pulled the practitioners up and continued beating and shocking them. Of the 18, three were children of the ages 12, 14, and 16 years old. These children were beaten up in front of their mothers. The practitioners who were arrested were fined 5000 Yuan, the money to be paid before noon on November 13, of this year.
The practitioners who were tortured are Wang Guilin, Yu Gouhua, Wang Xiuhui and her child (her husband had already been sentenced to one year in a labor camp), Liu Chenhua and her two daughters (her husband is currently in a labor camp), Chen Wentong, Xu Hemin, An Qinglian, Li Jinfang, Li Xiujuan, Jiang Xianglian, Jiang Shufen and others.
The town government officials put several dozens of practitioners into a mental hospital and beat practitioners who practiced in the park. The person in charge of these actions is Zhou Deyun, the deputy secretary of town Party. The men who assaulted the practitioners were local ruffians. We are calling on people all over the world to help in this matter.
[Shenyang, Liaoning Province] Some cases of persecution of practitioners in Shenyang
Yan Hongwei, male, 37 years old, an employee of The Second Printing Factory and the former main contact person in Shenyang, was arrested on October 15, 2000 and is being detained in Yushutun Detention Center in Shenyang.
Miao Qisheng, male, 39 years old, an employee of Institute of Information, the Scientific Committee in Shenyang, was sentenced not long ago to two years in jail by the Heping District Court. He is currently under detention in Yushutun Detention Center.
Liu Chunyun, female, approximately 50 years old, started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. She was arrested in early October. After a month's detention in Longshan, she was transferred to Masanjia Detention Center for 3 years of labor camp.
Chen Yuling, female, about 30 years old, was arrested in October with Liu Chunyun together, and transferred to Masanjia for 3 years of labor camp.
Qiao Lianyong, male, 35 years old, was arrested recently for spreading Teacher's article. There has been no information about his whereabouts.
[Xinjiang Province] Primary and middle school exams contain questions slandering Falun Gong in Xinjiang
Since the beginning of this year, examination papers of primary and middle schools contain required questions that slander Falun Gong. These kinds of questions have made up almost 20 percent of the some exam questions. Questions of this nature are misleading students to commit wrong deeds towards Falun Gong. This type of mean-spirited action has aroused strong condemnation from many righteous and kind people.
According to an inside source, a senior practitioner Cheng Yingde from Shihezi, Xinjiang were arrested unlawfully while he was visiting relatives in Shanxi province. He has not been released to date and detailed information is unknown.
