In mid-September, the directors of Space Technology Inc came to the Chinese Research Institute of Carrier Rocket Technology (Division I, Ministry of Space), and demanded to intensify the repression of Falun Gong practitioners in order to get all practitioners 'transformed' [give up the practice] by the end of the year. Otherwise the directors would be removed from their positions. The Institute thus took a series of actions. At the end of September, over twenty practitioners identified as key personnel were sent to Changli. Three to four employees escorted each practitioner from the Institute, and this group of one hundred people checked into a hotel. The practitioners were not allowed to speak to one another, and were arranged so that they had to listen and watch programs slandering Dafa.
In early October, the Institute invited people from Masanjia and Tuanhe to talk with practitioners.
The Institute recently sent six practitioners to Shenyang for transformation by the people of Masanjia. Only the ones who had been transformed were allowed to return to Beijing. The people of Masanjia tried to confuse practitioners with their Dafa misinterpretations while the people from the Institute threatened the practitioners with expulsion from the Party, discharging them from their jobs, and even sending them to labor camps.
According to sources, Division II and V of Ministry of Space also adopted similar approaches. It was said that the method would be tested at the Ministry of Space and Tsinghua University, and later it would be spread to other institutions.
Meng Xiaosu was a 42-year-old researcher at the Chinese Research Institute of Carrier Rocket Technology (Division I, Ministry of Space). He was a kind, hard-working and outstanding researcher. Since he started the cultivation of Falun Dafa in 1994, he disciplined himself even more. He led and participated in many research projects and made significant contributions to space research. The Ministry of Space even honored him as a "model party member." His moral character, technical skills, and achievements were regarded highly by his colleagues.
However, this good person was illegally detained and tortured by police and his institute for his petitioning for Dafa and telling the facts about Falun Gong to the officials.
For a period of time during his cultivation, Meng Xiaosu was in a phase where he needed very little sleep and sometimes he could stay up overnight without it interfering with the quality of his work. Meng Xiaosu's work unit, the Research Institute of Carrier Rocket Technology, used deceptive methods and sent him to a mental hospital. Everyone knew that Meng was healthy and had no mental illness. The hospital told Meng that they would not put him under medication, yet they secretly drugged his meals.
At the end of October of 2000, the Institute again sent 6 practitioners to Shenyang for transformation by the notorious people at Masanjia Education Center. A week later, all were sent back except for Meng Xiaosu.
Space Inc is supposed to be a research institute that conducts scientific research, but a few leaders of the Institute followed Jiang Zemin's policy, abused their power, and put themselves above the law and the Central government to suppress the Falun Gong practitioners at the Institute. What they have done has violated the moral code of scientists and the laws and the Chinese Constitution. We hope that they will realize their wrongdoings and stop the suppression at once.
