[Shanghai] Dafa leaflets fall from the sky onto Nanjing Road, Shanghai
On October 16, 2000, countless leaflets that clarify the truth about Falun Dafa floated down from tall buildings on both sides of Nanjing Road. This area is located in downtown Shanghai. There are large masses of people on this road everyday. Crowds of passersby were anxious to read the leaflets. This is an encouraging step made by Shanghai Dafa practitioners in stepping forward to validate Dafa.
[Beijing] Group of Dafa practitioners secretly sentenced to many years in prison
Here are the "trial" results from Beijing Xicheng District Court on October 12:
A female Dafa practitioner, Mi Xiaoping from Wuhan, was sentenced to 8 years in jail. Liang Zhaohui, a female practitioner from Qingdao, was sentenced to 7 years in jail.
He Weizhi, a male practitioner from Beijing, was sentenced to three years in jail.
Li Shuying, a female practitioner from Beijing was sentenced to three years in jail.
Liu Jinghang, a female practitioner from Beijing was sentenced to 3 years in jail.
Hu Guoping was given 3 years in jail.
Another practitioner was sentenced to 6 years in jail.
One extra year in prison was given to a practitioner because he questioned the presiding judge on why Dafa practitioners are not allowed to speak in court.
[Beijing] Beijing practitioner Liu Shuxia sentenced to five years in prison for printing materials clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa
Liu Shuxia, female, is from Shunyi, Beijing. She is in her 30's. She was recently sentenced to five years in prison. Her "crime" was printing and disseminating The Truth of Falun Gong, A Peaceful Journey and other materials that tell the truth about Dafa. Xu Chengzao and Zhang Wenyuan were sentenced to four years in prison for the same reason.

-- Female practitioners in the Tumuji Labor Camp
In March 2000, some Chifeng Falun Dafa practitioners practiced Falun Gong exercises in Changqing Park, in the morning. One day, police suddenly came by and arrested 17 of the practitioners. Physical and mental tortures followed. Hu Shuhua brought the tape player to the park. The police therefore treated her as an organizer. Four male policemen brutally beat and tortured her . Two pulled at her head and her feet, while the other two beat and pinched her. Bu Ren, Chai Yuguo and other cruel policemen used electric batons to shock her mouth and teeth. They brutally beat her while pulling her hair. Next, they punished her by forcing her to kneel on the ground for three days and nights. Her body was covered with cuts and dark bruises. Her ear bled for several days. Then she was sent to Tumuji Labor Camp.
In May and June, Dafa practitioners in Tumuji Labor Camp were forced to pledge not to practice Falun Gong. Hu Shuhua insisted on not making the pledge. She and other practitioners were forbidden to sleep throughout the whole night. Criminal prisoners beat and pinched them in order to keep them awake. Some practitioners were stripped and tied to a tree for insects to bite. On the next day, Hu Shuhua was required to work as usual. The cruel physical and mental torture had made her unrecognizable, even to her family members. Her clothes were shredded. She had to borrow other people's clothes. There aren't even the most basic human rights or laws in Tumuji Labor Camp. There are only guards who abuse Dafa practitioners . There are a total of 51 female Dafa practitioners on the forced-labor 're-education' team. All of them are bearing horrible sufferings.
-- Police action in suppressing Falun Gong in the Chifeng Area
Liang Zhanting is the chief of the National Security Team of Songshan District. He is the most vicious and ferocious villain abusing Falun Gong practitioners in Chifeng. Because of his ruthless tactics he was quickly promoted to Vice Bureau Director.
Police in Songshan District arbitrarily ransack Falun Dafa practitioners' homes without any legal procedure. They even steal bank deposit books during the search. In one practitioner's home, police asked the family to pay fines for a practitioner in custody. The police were told that they did not have money. Upon hearing from the family members that someone else had borrowed 8,000 RMB Yuan (around $1,000- about one year's total average salary in China) from them, a policeman demanded the receipt. The policeman intended to seize the money for himself.
In Hongshan District, police punished Dafa practitioners by ordering them to kneel on hand-held bicycle pumps. They shocked their teeth, their mouths, and their foreheads with an electric baton. The torture went on day and night. A policeman yelled at female Dafa practitioners: "You follow truthfulness, benevolence, and forbearance. If I rape you, are you going to bear it?"
In Yuanbaoshan District, police shackled Dafa practitioners. They cuffed their hands to their legs and made them run laps. When released, some were requested to pay heavy fines.

[Wuhan] Practitioner Xu Chunzhi from Wuhan has been on a hunger strike for over 90 days
Xu Chunzhi (female) is 45 years old. She is a faculty member of Huazhong University of Technology and Science (originally called the Huazhong University of Physics and Industry), Wuhan, China. She has appealed many times. She was taken from her home by police on July 11, 2000 and sent to Wujiashan Forced Labor Camp, East and West Lake. Xu Chunzi has been on a hunger strike for over 90 days. This Falun Dafa practitioner remains faithful and firm to Dafa. We appeal to the international community to pay attention to this matter.
[Liaoning] A practitioner from Liaoning sentenced to forced labor camp after a long-term detainment
Zhang Changfeng, a 29 year old woman, is from Xinmin, Liaoning Province. She went to Beijing to appeal at the end of October 1999. She was escorted back by the police of Shenyang Liaison Office in Beijing. She was detained at Ziqiang School and sent back to Xinmin because there was not enough space to detain so many Dafa practitioners at the school. In Xinmin, Zhang was in the custody of her work unit for over 40 days. As she would not write a statement renouncing Dafa, she was sent to the Fifth Police Station of Shenyang. She was there for over 20 days. Then she was sent back to Xinmin Camp of Collecting and Dispatching, and detained for over 6 months. There were around 8 to 9 practitioners in the Camp of Collecting and Dispatching during that period. They started a hunger strike because lots of their things were being stolen during the "investigations" by the government staff. Later she was released on July 6 to avoid public attention. However, she was under house arrest and four guards took turns watching her everyday until October 8, 2000. Then she was sentenced to one-year custody in Masanjia "Re-education" Center by the Politics Safeguarding Division, Department of Public Security. Their excuse was that she would not renounce Dafa and that she had been in contact with other practitioners.
In addition, Liu Yueqiu and other practitioners are still detained in the Xinmin Camp of Collecting and Dispatching.
