On October 8, a cold front came over Laredo, a city on the border of the US and Mexico. It began to rain, and the whole city was very quiet with few pedestrians and cars on the streets. In spite of the weather, the Falun Dafa Promotion Class held in a dance studio in the Laredo Community University was dynamic and full of warmth and peace. Over 40 people attended this class and were immersed in this "beautiful art" forgetting about the cold.
This promotion class was organized by a Falun Dafa practitioner who is a music professor at the university. It received great support from the department head, all administrative units, and professors and students in the university. Since this is a famous local university and the university did active publicity and contact work, the publicity for this Dafa promotion class was successful. The university not only sent all faculty and staff email messages and flyers and advertised to outsiders through its TV station, but also actively contacted the local Laredo Morning Newspaper to post news about Falun Dafa and this Falun Dafa promotion class.
Among the attendees of the class, some were professors and students of the university, and some came to attend it after they saw the reports in the newspaper and on TV. All attendees learned the five sets of Falun Dafa exercises and felt very good about them. One student said she already felt very strong energy circulating around her body. Some professors told Falun Dafa practitioners that this Falun Dafa promotion class should be held again so that they could have a chance to attend it a second time; many couldnt wait to tell their families and friends about Falun Dafa. Many people left their contact information and hoped that they could be informed about such Falun Dafa promotion activities and group exercises in the future. At the end, when Falun Dafa practitioners disclosed to the attendees the evil actions of Jiang Zemin cruelly cracking down on Falun Gong out of his personal interests, people expressed their condemnation and could not understand why such a great practice has been persecuted like this.
KVTV, the local television station, came to interview and report on the Dafa promotion class. This was the second time that KVTV did an interview with Falun Dafa practitioners. It played a very good role in introducing Falun Dafa and clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa to people. After the TV reports were aired that evening, local practitioners received many phone calls from people wanting to learn Falun Dafa. Some people felt sad that they missed the chance to attend the Falun Dafa promotion class after they saw the news and hoped such classes would be held again as soon as possible.
One practitioner, a grandmother from Austin State University, also attended the Dafa promotion class. She told the attendees her personal experience of how she benefited from Dafa and how she had recovered from many of her chronic illnesses after practicing Falun Dafa. After the class finished, she took a 4-hour Greyhound bus ride home. We were all moved by her will and sincere heart in hoping to help other people attain Dafa.
Due to the success of this Dafa promotion class, many attendees of the class told the university they wanted to continue studying Falun Dafa. There were also some people who were very interested in learning Falun Dafa after watching the news reports that night. So the university hoped to open a course on Falun Dafa to satisfy the publics needs. There was one problem, though, the university wanted the instructor of the class to be paid and the students attending the class to be charged a fee. However, all Falun Dafa activities have to be free of charge. Because of the repeated requests of Falun Dafa practitioners, the university agreed that this would be a free class. Falun Dafa practitioners follow Master Lis teachings and example, requiring of themselves " Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and they would always be righteous in any place and in any corner of the world.
The university now allows Falun Dafa practitioners to regularly hold activities in the form of Dafa promotion classes on campus. During lunchtime every Tuesday and Thursday, a class is offered to the school faculty, staff and students. Every Monday and Friday afternoon, at 5:30PM, another class is organized for the public, and the university agreed to provide space and other necessary equipment on a long-term basis free of charge. We hope all predestined people can attain Falun Dafa and those who still dont know about Falun Dafa will be able to learn about it as soon as possible.
