(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Li from Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, was sentenced to three years and ten months on May 29, 2025 for practicing Falun Gong, her lawyer learned during a recent meeting with her.
Ms. Li was arrested on April 17, 2024, during a police sweep that netted at least ten other local Falun Gong practitioners. When she was first brought to the Cangzhou City Detention Center, Ms. Li was strip-searched twice a day for “contraband.” She went on a hunger strike in protest and soon became emaciated. Only then did the guards stop the strip-search.
Ms. Li’s son was notified by the Yunhe District Court in early 2025 that his mother’s court date was set for February 25. The court called him again on the morning of April 8 saying that another hearing was to be held the next morning at the detention center. Details of the two hearings remain to be investigated.
While meeting with her at the detention center around early July 2025, Ms. Li’s lawyer learned of her prison sentence issued on May 29, 2025.
Ms. Li was previously sentenced to three years with five years probation following an arrest in 2009. After another arrest on August 17, 2014, she was sentenced to six years in prison on December 30, 2015.
