Laizhou City, Shandong Province: Four Arrested and Three Harassed in One Day for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Authorities in Laizhou City, Shandong Province, arrested four locals and harassed another three on July 8, 2025, for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The arrests and harassment were carried out by agents from the Laizhou City 610 Office, Laizhou City Domestic Security Division, township government, and police stations.

Four Arrested, One Still Detained

Mr. Luan Shihai and his wife, Ms. Wang Youqing, had their home broken into around 6 a.m. The eight arresting officers confiscated the couple’s Falun Gong books, portraits of Falun Gong’s founder, a media player, and calendars with information about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Tushan Town Border Defense Police Station for interrogation. Ms. Wang refused to answer any questions. She and her husband were released around noon.

Ms. Han Zhengui was arrested around 7 a.m. Several of her Falun Gong books and self-adhesive posters were confiscated. She refused to sign any documents. She is now being held in the Yantai City Detention Center.

A little past 7 a.m., six agents descended on Ms. Sun Songmei’s home and took her Falun Gong books and a media player. The couplets she had on her front door were torn apart. She was released later that day.

Three Harassed

Seven agents harassed Ms. Sun Yuling at home that same morning. They searched her place and took calendars with information about Falun Gong and several wall paintings.

Ms. Ren Yuqiao wasn’t home when over ten officers came to harass her around 7 a.m., so they left.

Ms. Sun Xiuling was also harassed on the morning of July 8.
