Additional Persecution News from China – May 23, 2025 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

7. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Jiapeng and His Wife Ms. Li Jieping Detained
8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xiaoling Harassed
9. [Xingning City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Zhuozhong and His Wife Ms. Liao Yuanqun Admitted to Prison to Serve Ten Years

1. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Tried for a Fourth Time

Mr. Du Jianxin, his wife Ms. Wang Fan, and Mr. Fu Jian appeared in the Dongying District Court for a fourth time at 9 a.m. on May 19, 2025. Ms. Wang testified in her own defense, and her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. No verdicts were announced at the end of the hearing.

2. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Wang Lidong Arrested

Practitioner Wang Lidong (gender not known) from Taiping District was arrested on the morning of May 22, 2025, while talking to people about Falun Gong near Shilihe Market in Gaode Sub-district. At 3 p.m. that afternoon, officers from the Taiping District Police Department, the Chengnan Police Station, and Chengnan Sub-district Administration Office ransacked Wang’s home.

3. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Guo Danxia Arrested

Ms. Guo Danxia, 79, was arrested on May 16, 2025, when she went to Linxiang City, a county-level city in Yueyang City, to deliver Falun Gong materials. Her specific situation is still unknown.

4. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Guiying and Her Daughter Arrested

Ms. Li Guiying, in her 80s, and her daughter Ms. Liu Qinglian, in her 50s, from Jiangnan Sub-district in Meijiang District, were arrested between April 25 and April 30, 2025. It was reported that Ms. Li has been released, while Ms. Liu is still detained.

5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Harassed and Another Two Arrested

Ms. Yu, 74, and Ms. Zhang, 76, were followed and photographed on May 5, when they went to Beishan Park to talk to people about Falun Gong. The police ransacked their homes on May 6, but did not find Falun Gong-related materials. They left without arresting either practitioner.

Ms. Shi Xiuping, about 70, was followed when she went to Shahezi Market on May 6, 2025. After she got home, she was arrested and taken to the Beiji Police Station in Chuanying District. Her home was ransacked. She has since been released.

Ms. Yin, in her 60s, was also arrested on May 6.

6. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Homes of Mr. Bai Heli and Ms. Meng Aiying Ransacked

Niu Ganggang, head of the Domestic Security Division of Huozhou City, a county-level city within Linfen City, led seven people to break into Mr. Bai Heli’s home at 7 p.m. on May 19, 2025. They claimed that Mr. Bai was recorded by surveillance camera while distributing Falun Gong informational materials. They ransacked the place and confiscated his Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and flash drives. They also took Mr. Bai’s non-practitioner wife to the police station and interrogated her for five hours.

At the same time, Ms. Meng Aiying’s home was also ransacked. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated.

7. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Jiapeng and His Wife Ms. Li Jieping Detained

Mr. Li Jiapeng and his wife Ms. Li Jieping from Tiechang Town, Erdaojiang District, were arrested on April 3, 2025, for posting Falun Gong materials at the military management area in Guosong Town, Tonghua County. They were transferred to the Guosong Town Police Station, then taken to the Tonghua County Police Department and detained for 10 days in the Tonghua County Detention Center. They were placed under close surveillance after being released on April 14.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xiaoling Harassed

Ms. Yu Xiaoling was harassed at home by two officers from the Ande Town Police Station in Pidu District and the village Internet content administrators around 10 a.m. on May 22, 2025. They forcibly took pictures of her and questioned her as to whether she knew any Falun Gong practitioners in Tangchang Town. They also ordered her not to contact any other local practitioners.

9. [Xingning City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Zhuozhong and His Wife Ms. Liao Yuanqun Admitted to Prison to Serve Ten Years

Mr. Li Zhuozhong and his wife Ms. Liao Yuanqun were arrested on April 19, 2024. They were each sentenced to ten years by the Meixian District Court on December 20, 2024. They appealed with the Meizhou City Intermediate Court. During the appeals hearing on March 17, 2025, the judge interrupted Mr. Li during his defense statement, accusing him of promoting Falun Gong. The judge ruled to uphold their original verdicts around April 10, 2025. Mr. Li was transferred to the Sihui Prison on May 7, 2025 and Ms. Liao has been admitted to the Guangzhou Women’s Prison.
