(Minghui.org) Two screenings of the documentary “State Organs” were held at the Central Library in Calgary, Canada, on June 23, 2025, during the annual Rotary International Convention.

The screenings were hosted by the End Forced Organ Harvesting Rotary Satellite Club, a cause-based Rotary e-club dedicated to raising awareness of the issue. More than half of the audience were Rotary Club members from various countries. One audience member told the organizer prior to the screening, “I must come. I need to know the truth!”

During the discussion sessions after the two screenings, audience members said that the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting was beyond human imagination. They also expressed admiration for Falun Gong practitioners’ perseverance in their belief and the calls for an end to the atrocities.

Former MP: Atrocities Committed by the CCP Are Comparable to Those of the Nazis

Rob Anders, a former member of Parliament (MP) for Calgary, attended the screening and recalled a time when Falun Gong practitioners visited his office in Ottawa. “They gave me a document as thick as a phone book which recorded various atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners,” he said. “I just hope that more and more people realize what is going on in China. I think the atrocities that are being perpetrated against Falun Gong are comparable to, if not in excess of, what happened under Nazi Germany.”

Mr. Anders hopes that governments like South Korea and Japan will follow Taiwan’s lead and make it clear that they do not want to see their people go to China to obtain organs from imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners.

At the end of 2022, the Canadian Parliament unanimously passed Bill S-223 to combat illegal organ removal and trafficking. Anders said that in addition to federal legislation, he also supports provincial governments introducing corresponding regulations. “I think more people just need to be aware that if they are getting organs from China, Falun Gong practitioners are dying to provide those organs, and the government has tremendous blood on its hands,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation for Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts to raise awareness of the persecution. “We have seen Falun Gong practitioners take to the streets to clarify the truth in severe cold, scorching heat, rain, and snowstorms. This shows their great dedication. Please keep going. Please keep moving forward. Bless you,” he said.

Rotary Members: Falun Gong Practitioners Are Admirable

Troy Stansell, a member of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS) and a quality engineer in the U.S., said that he had learned about the CCP’s live organ harvesting when he attended a meeting in Houston, where a Falun Gong practitioner talked about her experience of being forced to work for no pay and having her blood drawn in a forced labor camp.

After watching the film, he was both sad and angry. Mr. Stansell said, “It’s really hard to accept that there’s a country and a government behind this. We rely on the government to protect us and guard us, but a government is doing this. It’s really heartbreaking, frustrating, infuriating, and sad.

“Those who stick to their beliefs deserve our admiration. They endure all kinds of torture and do not abandon their beliefs. This really makes many of us ashamed.”

Ann Barr, a member of the Rotary Club’s Community Action Against Human Trafficking Club from Kansas, U.S., finished watching the movie in tears. “This is so heartbreaking. I can’t bear it,” she said. “This is so shocking, it’s hard to believe this is true, it’s hard to believe this kind of thing can happen in the world.”

Rolf Thingvold, a Rotarian and senior sales executive at a large Norwegian software company, said “State Organs” was a very moving and powerful story and that the organizers had done a great job. He also understood that “the filmmakers took a big risk.”

Audience: It’s Beyond Imagination

Jennifer, a mother of several children, said she could not believe that such evil existed in the world. “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that this could happen, that people could treat each other like this. Whether it was organ harvesting or going to China for organ transplants, I couldn’t believe anyone would be involved in it,” she said.

She called for legislation to stop the crimes. “We can’t change what’s happening over there,” she said, “but we can stop people from going there from Canada. We have to enact laws to stop this!”
