Additional Persecution News from China – June 9, 2025 (5 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 6 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Hongmei and Ms. Zhang Yulan Sentenced to Prison
2. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Case Against Ms. Dou Lina Submitted to the Procuratorate
3. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Case Against Ms. Wang Haiyuan Submitted to the Procuratorate
4. [Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Shujun Detained
5. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Shuxiang Forced to Live Away from Home to Avoid Persecution; Family Members Harassed

1. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Hongmei and Ms. Zhang Yulan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Hongmei and Ms. Zhang Yulan were arrested on February 21, 2025 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. They were tried by the Qingzhou City Court on May 30, 2025. Ms. Li was sentenced to fourteen months and fined 6,000 yuan, and Ms. Zhang was given one year with a 5,000-yuan fine.

2. [Siping City, Jilin Province] Case Against Ms. Dou Lina Submitted to the Procuratorate

Ms. Dou Lina went to visit a local practitioner on April 22, 2025 and was arrested as soon as she left. The police took her home for a search and confiscated her laptop and some informational materials related Falun Gong. She was first held at a lockup for 15 days and then transferred to a detention center. She is now facing prosecution after the police submitted her case to the Tiedong District Procuratorate.

3. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Case Against Ms. Wang Haiyuan Submitted to the Procuratorate

Ms. Wang Haiyuan was arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in September 2024. She was released on bail later that day and has been constantly harassed since.

Ms. Wang received a call from local police at the end of May 2025, demanding her to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply and was arrested again at work on the afternoon of June 3, 2025. When her family went to the police station to demand her release, the police said they had submitted her case to the local Procuratorate. Ms. Wang has started a hunger strike in the detention center to protest the persecution.

4. [Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Shujun Detained

Mr. Li Shujun was arrested at around 5 a.m. on June 5, 2025. He was given five days at the Xingcheng City Lockup.

5. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Shuxiang Forced to Live Away from Home to Avoid Persecution; Family Members Harassed

Ms. Zhang Shuxiang, 77, was arrested by officers from the Goushang Police Station in Linglong Town on August 24, 2024, after being reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released after she was denied admission by the Yantai City Detention Center due to her back injury, which was caused by a car accident not long ago.

The police called Ms. Zhang’s daughter, who shared the residence with her, and demanded to install surveillance cameras at the entrance of their apartment building and in Ms. Zhang’s bedroom. Ms. Zhang’s daughter didn’t agree. Not wanting to implicate her daughter’s family, Ms. Zhang has been forced to live away from home.

The police harassed Ms. Zhang’s other daughter, who lives in the countryside, in late May 2025, and then Ms. Zhang’s older sister, 83, in early June 2025. Ms. Zhang’s older sister also practices Falun Gong, and her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated.
