(Minghui.org) State Organs, an award-winning documentary that exposes forced organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has been screened at theaters in Taiwan numerous times since July 2024. Despite threatening emails and bomb threats at theaters from CCP agents, elected officials as well as the general public continue to watch the film and condemn the CCP’s crime of organ harvesting.
State Organs was shown and follow-up forum discussions were held at major cities in Taiwan
Hsu Chih-chieh, a member of the Legislative Yuan who advocates for combating and preventing organ harvesting, said the documentary exposed the CCP’s brutal nature. “We hope more people watch the movie and learn the facts. The Legislative Yuan passed the first reading of the legislation and we will continue working on it.”
Legislative Yuan member Hsu Chih-chieh
Guan Jianzhong, head of Lion Film and Television Culture Co., who distributes the movie in Taiwan, said that this documentary helps to provide the facts to Taiwan residents.
Guan said, “Promotional activities were held in many cities followed by discussions with audience members after watching the movie. Many people were shocked by the atrocities. They thanked Falun Gong practitioners for persistently exposing the persecution for 20 plus years and have become more supportive.”
Not Becoming the CCP’s Accomplices
New Taipei City Councilor Cho Kuan-ting
Cho Kuan-ting, a New Taipei City councilor, wrote a social media post after watching the documentary. He said a large number of Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted by the CCP since 1999. After they underwent medical examinations at detention centers and prisons, they were added to the organ “donation bank,” a critical step in the CCP’s organ harvesting. “Organ donation centers have been established in hospitals near prisons and they are very popular,” he explained. “Based on information obtained by investigators, dozens of hospitals admitted that some organs came from Falun Gong practitioners. They even said ‘You will get an organ in one week.’”
He said that many sick people fell into the CCP’s trap to extend their own lives, and they received organs without confirming the identities of the donors. “Another healthy person was killed. This is extremely horrifying and vicious,” he said.
This is one of many atrocities committed by the CCP," Cho added. "The regime does not want people to know the facts. We need to work together and expose these crimes.: He also warned Taiwan residents to be clear on this issue and not become the CCP’s accomplices.
Not a Medical Procedure
New Taipei City Councilor Chen Nai-yu
Chen Nai-yu, another New Taipei City councilor, said she could not calm down after watching the documentary: "For a long time, the CCP systematically harvested organs from Falun Gong practitioners. The victims were detained or 'went missing' simply because there is a demand for organs. This is killing. This is not a medical procedure,” she said. "These are not isolated incidents. This is an institutional joint crime committed by the state and the medical system in China.
What shocked Chen the most was the testimony from Zheng Zhi, a former surgeon from China. He was ordered to harvest organs, but the victim was still alive. This memory became his nightmare. When Zheng repeatedly said, “He (the victim) was still alive,” Chen burst into tears. “A living person, a human being was gone like this,” she explained.
Chen urged Taiwan residents not go to mainland China for organ transplants. A “perfect match” organ could come from an innocent life. "This is killing, not donation."
She added that Taiwan enjoys democracy and freedom. It’s important to implement laws that curb such crimes so that these totalitarian crimes won’t be hidden.
The CCP Is Committing Sins
Taipei City Councilor Hung Chien-yi
Hung Chien-yi, a city councilor from Taipei, said recent screenings of State Organs received threats: "This shows those who sent them are afraid people might know the facts about the organ harvesting." He feels this documentary proves the existence of organ harvesting by the CCP by presenting solid evidence including videos. Even former military surgeons testified to this and the largest victim group is Falun Gong practitioners.
Hung gave a speech during an activity at Ximending to promote a screening in Taipei. Many young people were shocked by the brutality. According to traditional Chinese culture, our bodies came from our parents, which means the CCP cannot just kill people and take their organs. That’s why practitioners need to tell more people what’s going on in China.
“By harvesting organs, the CCP is committing sins,” Hung continued. “We all believe in the cause-effect relationship. The CCP will be held accountable and those karmic debts go to those who commit crimes.”
Intervention Is Needed from United Nations
Hsinchu City Councilor Tseng Zicheng
Tseng Zicheng, city councilor from Hsinchu, said the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong not only happens in China, but has expanded overseas. With transnational repression by the CCP against Falun Gong practitioners and human rights advocates, he urged the United Nations and governments to start independent investigations.
“The CCP is brutal at its core. Only by disintegrating the CCP will China have a future and will Taiwan be protected,” he explained. “With conscience and hope, we believe history will remember these facts and bring justice accordingly. Let’s all work on it and bring this tragedy to an end.”
Private Screening Reveals the CCP’s Nature
Kaohsiung City Councilor Chen Lina
When screenings of State Organs started in Kaohsiung in June, Legislative Yuan member Hsu Chih-chieh and city councilor Chen Lina hosted a private screening with a discussion forum afterward. Chen said she did this because this documentary presents the facts and helps people know the CCP’s true nature. “The CCP’s illegal persecution of Falun Gong has now grown into an organ supply chain. It’s horrible and intolerable. We believe the divine will not allow this to continue and those evildoers will meet with consequences,” she said.
Chen also thanked Falun Gong practitioners for their courage and perseverance. “We should all step forward forward and oppose the CCP’s cruelty. Everybody can do this. It does not matter how loud your voice is – at least you should step forward. We will then see the change.”
Not Remaining Silent
After watching the documentary, psychiatrist Zhou Minghui said we cannot remain silent about this crime. “We need to take action and get the word out so that more people can learn about what’s going on,” he said. “Only then will society become safe because what the vicious fears the most is being exposed.
“Knowing facts is the key,” Zhou explained. "We should stop wishful thinking about the CCP or being led by its cognitive warfare. We must spread the words. When everyone does this, the evil will stop,” he continued.
The tragedies in China could expand to other places. “Whatever the CCP does to people in mainland China today could happen to Taiwanese or the entire world later,” he added. By supporting Falun Gong, we are safeguarding freedom and democracy in Taiwan; we are also safeguarding human beings’ basic rights. “As long as we do all these with courage, the regime will meet its end,” Zhou said.
Audience Members Call for Justice
People who watched the documentary said it is very informative. Mr. Wu, who runs an e-commerce business, said those who ignored the CCP’s threat in the past might reconsider. “I agree with Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance because they wake up the good side of people’s hearts,” he said. “I believe time will prove everything and the defamation of Falun Gong will end. After all, good is rewarded with good and evil is punished.”
Ms. Tsai, who works in the service industry, said the film is shocking. “It’s hard to imagine the CCP is killing people like slaughtering animals. I admire Falun Gong practitioners for their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and for their determination in spite of pressure,” she said. “I think we Chinese should say no to the CCP with courage like Falun Gong practitioners do.”
Ms. Huang, who works in the military, was saddened by the movie. “People are a country’s foundation. In order to control people, the CCP even forces them to renounce their belief. This is absurd! It’s outrageous that the CCP has persecuted Falun Gong for more than 20 years!”
Mr. Chen from Yunlin said he thanked Falun Gong practitioners for raising awareness about this. He respected them for their courage to educate the public on this important matter. He also discouraged Taiwan residents from going to China for organ transplants and avoid being the CCP’s accomplices. “The totalitarian CCP does not tolerate other ideologies and it could persecute anyone with different thoughts. So we have to be careful,” he explained.
Mr. Yang, who used to run a business in mainland China, said he heard about organ harvesting about 20 years ago. “Many people knew about the large number of organ transplants in China, but the source of these organs was suspicious. They chose to remain silent before seeing the evidence,” he said. “Now we see the evidence. The CCP will not change and it can only be disintegrated. We hope the legislation to combat and prevent organ harvesting is passed.”
