(Minghui.org) Six Jilin City, Jilin Province, residents, were recently sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yin Fuying, 70, was sentenced to nine years. Ms. Jiang Ruihua, 71, and Ms. Lyu Shuzhen were each sentenced to three years. Ms. Xia Guihua, 65, received two years. Ms. Xu Min, 55, was given a year and a half. Ms. Guo Zhongxin, 66, was sentenced to one year and four months.
They were all arrested during a police sweep on June 4, 2023, and held at the Jilin City Detention Center. They were later indicted by the local procuratorate. Details about their sentencing aren’t clear.
Prior to their latest sentencing, most of the six had been persecuted before for their faith.
Ms. Yin, formerly employed at the Jilin Woolen Mill, has been repeatedly arrested over the past 25 years. The factory also fired her. She was previously detained three times and served two forced labor camp terms.
Ms. Jiang was arrested at home around 8 p.m. on July 4, 2002, and taken to the Gaoxin Police Station, leaving her incapacitated husband and their young child to fend for themselves. She was transferred to a detention center the next day and held for over 40 days. Because she refused to give up Falun Gong, she was given a three-year term in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. During that time, her husband passed away because there was no one to care for him.
Ms. Xu was detained three times and served a one-year labor camp term. The authorities extended her term by 37 days. She was also harassed, fined, and had her home raided many times. Her family lived in fear over the years.
