Practitioners in China Should Stop Posting Videos About Falun Dafa on Social Media

(Minghui.org) I recently noticed that some practitioners in China use their social media accounts to tell people about Falun Dafa through videos. I have serious concerns about this that I’d like to share.

A person’s location can be traced through their cell phone, and using a phone to post messages on social media may expose our personal information and location to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents. This poses serious safety risks. Minghui previously asked practitioners to remove apps such as WeChat. My understanding is that as long as the persecution continues, we should not take chances.

Posting these videos may also expose other practitioners, and they may also be exposed when they leave comments. Some practitioners’ comments include quotes from Master Li (Falun Dafa’s founder) but do not mention the source. Doing this is undermining Dafa, which is serious.

Master said:

“No one is allowed to place my lectures on the Internet. Whoever did it should take it down! You are committing a sin, and you are tarnishing Dafa!” (“Fa Teaching at the 2016 New York Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XIV)

Only Minghui and FalunDafa.org are authorized to publish Master’s teachings.

Some people used what Master wrote in Hong Yin, Hong Yin II…, Hong Yin VI and modified the words in their videos. This is one form of undermining Dafa.

Others used Master’s words as their account names. Some took music or audio files produced by practitioners outside of China and used them. Some said they were promoting Shen Yun, while others said they did this to express their gratitude to Master.

I don’t understand why practitioners would produce, spread, or repost these videos. Maybe they felt it would help save people. But doing this may interfere with practitioners—it wastes their time, and exposes their identities. If these videos weren’t made by practitioners, they may be from CCP agents who are “fishing” to gain popularity for their accounts.

The Internet is tempting, and people spend hours “surfing the net.” Some practitioners say they go on the Internet to read the Fa (teachings) or clarify the facts about the persecution. The reality is they may just be fooling themselves.

Based on my observation, these videos don’t help save people. Due to the CCP’s Internet firewall in China, phases such as “Falun Dafa is good” or “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” can’t be used, so we can’t directly help people to understand the importance of quitting the CCP organizations. Openly telling others about Dafa or about quitting the CCP organizations under these circumstances makes no sense.

I found that most of these videos talk about cultivation practice, something everyday people cannot understand. If they can’t understand, and we cannot directly clarify the facts, then why are these videos being produced and spread? The people who repost, or “like” them, and leave comments are mainly practitioners. Why are we circulating them among practitioners?

CCP agents are now slandering Master Li inside and outside of China. Time is precious, and doing this causes interference, because some of the comments are from CCP agents. This is a trap and we should pay attention.

Some practitioners say they are promoting traditional culture because it’s part of Fa-rectification. We need to be clear that Falun Dafa practitioners have the responsibility of helping Master with Fa-rectification, not spreading traditional culture. We sometimes mention traditional culture when we clarify facts to people, but the purpose is different.

No matter what stage Fa-rectification is at, no matter what situations we face, we need to cultivate ourselves and follow Master’s teachings. We should not do things based on our own assumptions. Some practitioners started schools in China to promote traditional culture, and many were arrested.

I hope practitioners will stop producing and spreading these videos. We should also delete our comments about them. We should avoid doing anything that may interfere with other practitioners or cause safety concerns.
