Minghui.org recently confirmed the deaths of two Falun Gong practitioners in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, as a result of the decades-long persecution of their faith. Below are the details.

Ms. Li Huixia

Ms. Li Huixia passed away in 2020 after enduring repeated arrests and detention. She was 68.

Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in June 2001. She was arrested and taken back to Qingcheng County. The police detained her for 15 days and fined her 3,000 yuan. She was also forced to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong.

Ms. Li returned to Beijing to appeal again months later. This time, the police gave her a one-year term at the Lanzhou City Women’s Forced Labor Camp. She was beaten regularly by the guards.

Ms. Li’s husband, Mr. Wang Yongduo, an employee of the Changqing Oilfield, also went to Beijing to appeal for his shared faith in Falun Gong. While he managed to escape after being arrested, he was seized by the police shortly after in Yinchuan City for distributing Falun Gong materials. He was sentenced to eight years and the police continued to harass him on a regular basis after he was released.

Ms. Li was arrested again on January 13, 2010, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was detained for nearly a month and released ahead of the Chinese New Year on February 14. The police took her back into custody on March 25 that year and detained her for an unknown amount of time.

Ms. Li was arrested yet again on November 4, 2016, for distributing Falun Gong information. She was searched and forced to fingerprint some documents.

Ms. Li’s last arrest was in 2019, after she was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in Jingyang County, Shaanxi Province. She was detained at the local police station for four hours and then released.

Years of persecution and mental distress took a toll on Ms. Li’s health. She died a year later, at the age of 68.

Ms. Xue Yingying

Ms. Xue Yingying took up Falun Gong before the persecution started in 1999. She was given a one-year labor camp term in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, in the early years of the persecution for talking to people about Falun Gong.

Ms. Xue was arrested again on June 13, 2011, and held in the Gaoling District Detention Center in Xi’an.

Ms. Xue’s next arrest was on April 14, 2016, after she and two other practitioners (Ms. Zhang Huixia and Ms. Zhao Guifang) were reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police collected a sample of her blood and took a photo of her against her will. They also forced her to fingerprint a document. She was released in the evening.

Ms. Xue went with Ms. Zhang, Ms. Zhao, and Ms. Li to the countryside to distribute Falun Gong materials on November 4, 2016. They were reported and arrested by officers from the Majiawan Police Station in the Gaoling District in Xi’an. The police and 610 Office agents searched and interrogated them. They were released that evening.

Ms. Xue was arrested again on July 26, 2020, by officers Wang Jie and Zhang Mingjie of the Jinghe Police Station in the Gaoling District. They confiscated over ten of her Falun Gong books, two memory cards, and a phone book. They took her to the Jinghe Police Station, made her sit on a metal chair, and attempted to force her to renounce Falun Gong. She was later taken to the Chang’an Lockup and detained for five days.

The police harassed Ms. Xue again on May 11 and 14, 2023, when the China-Central Asia Summit was held in Xi’an.

Succumbing to the long term persecution, Ms. Xue passed away in September 2024. She was 72.
