(Minghui.org) Practitioners in North Island participated in seven Christmas parades between December 4 and 7, 2025, giving them the opportunity to introduce Falun Dafa to the communities. They were well received in all seven parades, and many people said they liked traditional Chinese culture and the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances. They also praised Falun Dafa’s guiding principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Four parades were held in the largest city, Auckland (Mangere, Kumeu, Browns Bay, Howick), one in Hamilton, and two in towns near Hamilton (Te Awamutu and Cambridge). Many people said they admired the Tian Guo Marching Band’s costumes and the music they played, including, “Falun Dafa Is Good.” People applauded and waved to the band members.

The waist drum team also impressed spectators with their synchronized drumming, crisp beats, and rhythmic dance steps. The dragon dance was greeted with rounds of applause. The colorful float which had the words, “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” in gold received a thumbs-up from many spectators.

People applauded the practitioners’ performances, and some took photos and videos, and waved to the practitioners. They said their performances were great, and they especially liked the energy.

Admiring Falun Dafa’s Principles

Godfrey

Godfrey said he moved to New Zealand three months ago and works for a mining company. This was the first time he saw Falun Dafa practitioners in a parade. He said their costumes were spectacular. “I like traditional culture very much. I feel as if I stepped into a movie scene,” he explained.

Godfrey said that practicing Falun Dafa could improve one’s mind and body. He also agreed with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and said they are very meaningful. “If people don’t cherish these values and only care about themselves, it will lead to social isolation.” He felt events like these help people, especially the younger generation, to know who we are and where we came from.

He feels it’s important for people from all ethnic groups and cultural backgrounds to celebrate their traditions. “It will help people know each other and work together,” Godfrey explained. “Thank you for bringing Chinese culture here. We need to learn from you.”

Helping Educate the Younger Generation

Shauna and Ruth

Shauna and Ruth are part of the community patrol, and they wish to improve local communities. They were thus excited to see the Tian Guo Marching Band’s traditional costumes, and learn about Falun Dafa and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

“We need to teach the younger generation these values. We always need kindness in our society,” Shauna explained. “When people need assistance, we should help them.” She said many children are addicted to electronics these days, and the virtual world can be misleading, so we need to pass on the values of sincerity and kindness to the next generation.

Ruth said the music played by the Tian Guo Marching Band was unique. Children nowadays like to pay electric guitars and keyboards used by rock bands instead of brass instruments. “I hope the beautiful music of the Tian Guo Marching Band inspires children to learn these instruments,” she said.

Praise for Traditional Values

IT professional Kainoa and his son

Kainoa works for an IT firm, and said that the music performed by the Tian Guo Marching Band was excellent. “I can imagine the band members must have practiced a lot to achieve such great results,” he said.

Growing up in Philippines, Kainoa said he is one-quarter Chinese, because his grandfather came from Shanghai. He always likes traditional values such as the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “These values are important for our society and I think that is why the Chinese civilization could last thousands of years,” he explained.
