(Minghui.org) The Minghui.org website recently reported that a Falun Gong practitioner in Hebei Province was twice harassed for her faith during this year’s week-long “Two Sessions.” This report presents a few additional cases of similar harassment incidents across China.

The “Two Sessions” are the annual meetings of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC). This year the CPPCC began on March 4, 2024, and the NPC one day later. They both concluded on March 11. The communist regime has been known for intensifying its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners around sensitive dates, such as the “two sessions.”

Jiangsu Province

The local authorities in Wuxi City posted agents outside Ms. Wu Qiuqin’s home to monitor her around the clock starting on September 19, 2023. One person showed up on the morning of February 28, 2024 and complained that they had more to do now that the “Two Sessions” were about to begin. Hours later, two officers, one of them Sun Qinger, came with their police camcorder on. Sun flashed a piece of paper and Ms. Wu noted it was a notice warning residents not to fall victims to scams. She saw through the excuse the police were using to harass her at home, and urged them to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners like her.

Hubei Province

Several residents of Xianning City, including Ms. Chen Fang, Ms. Ren Huifang, Ms. Yang Xiaohua, and Ms. Wang Lidi, were harassed by their respective police stations and street committees in the days leading up to the “Two Sessions.” The harassers also took photos of them.

Shandong Province

Case 1

Ms. You Yuxuan, a resident of Qingdao City, bought a train ticket on February 27, 2024 to go to Beijing on March 2 to have a dental procedure. The police found out about her ticket purchase through their big data surveillance and ordered her to return the ticket. She refused and was arrested by the Dagang Road Police Station, on March 1, the day before her scheduled trip.

The police also ordered her family to deliver her ID to them. Ms. You’s loved ones refused, and went to the police station on March 2 to seek her release. They also filed a complaint against the police.

The police transferred Ms. You to her local street committee office after holding her at their police station for 24 hours. She remains detained at the time of writing.

Case 2

Mr. Yang Naijian, another Qingdao resident, was harassed at home on March 4, 2024, by a few employees from the local judicial bureau. They ordered her to go to the street committee to sign paperwork to denounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply. Six days later, the Qingdao City Police Department went to her former employer, a property management company, to harass her, not knowing that he had quit a year ago.

Case 3

More than ten officers from the Zhongyun Police Station in Jiaozhou City smashed Mr. Wang Yijing’s door on March 7, 2024 and broke in. They arrested him and his wife Ms. Liu Yumei, as well as their ten guests, including Ms. Wang Ming’e, Ms. Song Yu’e, Ms. Liu Yufeng, Ms. Kuang Shuzhen, Ms. Sui Meicai, Ms. Kuang Xiuzhen, Ms. Wang Peifen, Ms. Xue Guifang, Ms. Xue Guiyan, and Ms. Yan Guizhen.

The couple and their guests were studying Falun Gong books together. It was apparent that the police had been monitoring them and knew about the gathering.

One of the guests was 86 years old. She was so terrified by the police raid that she passed out. Her daughter-in-law, who was also there, revived her.

Case 4

Ms. Zhang Zuomei, a resident of Pingdu City, was harassed by the Nancun Town Police Station officers during the “Two Sessions.”

Jilin Province

The Nong’an County Domestic Security Office in Jilin Province and its subordinate police stations arrested at least four practitioners during the “Two Sessions.” Ms. Yuan Jinglian’s husband returned home one day and found a big mess. Another practitioner, surnamed Feng, was arrested by officers from the Huanglong Police Station, while walking on the street on March 6, 2024, and detained for four days.

The Shangcheng Police Station in Xinhua District came to arrest her and raided her home that night. They said her case was especially “severe” since she dared to promote Falun Gong on the last day of the “Two Sessions.” They gave her 14 days of administrative detention.

Case 2

The Cheng’an County Domestic Security Office and its subordinate Dongbao Township Police Station harassed local resident Ms. Ding Qiaofeng many times during the “Two Sessions.”

The same group of officers descended on another local resident Mr. Zhao Shufang’s home at noon on March 13, 2024. They took photos of the couplets on the door that bore Falun Gong messages, and questioned him as to where he got them.

Mr. Zhao refused to answer and the police called in more than ten other officers. They arrested Mr. Zhao and his wife, Ms. Zhang Qinhua, and took the couple to the Cheng’an County Police Department. After interrogation, they drove them to a hospital for physical examinations. Both Mr. Zhao and Ms. Zhang were found to have high blood pressure and were released after 7 p.m. that night.
